Pocono Blues Festival Artists past and present score big at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis on May 6. The Blues Music Awards, universally recognized as the highest honor given to blues artists, and voted on by fellow performers, industry representatives, and fans from around the globe who are members of the Memphis based Blues Foundation were held this past Thursday evening in a star studded gala. Bonnie Raitt presented Buddy Guy (Pocono Blues 2003) with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Blues pianist Pinetop Perkins (Pocono Blues 1999 & 2010) was on hand to present his namesake piano player award. Also, Koko Taylor's (Pocono Blues 1996 & 2006) daughter, Cookie Taylor was in attendance to present the renamed Koko Taylor Award (formerly Best Traditional Female Artist) to its first ever recipient blues guitarist Debbie Davies (Pocono Blues 1993).
