Dyer Vent

Heating your home this way is not recommended, here is a dryer being vented into the laundry room.  Adding this much moisture to a home, or in this case a small room is a recipe for problems. Ever heard of condensation? The drywall showed moisture stains and there was some rust on metal items in the room but what caught my eye was the lint screen, fancy! With the low cost electricity local to this home and a nearly new electric furnace; I do not know how much savings they had but the damage potential to the house/room would out weigh any savings I can see. Maybe the outside door was opened while drying but I think not. I assume during the summer this would be hooked to the vent that goes out doors and was behind the dryer just out of view. At least I hope so.

Dennis,

For sure. Once I found that deal and it was a gas dryer...then you really got problems because that means the exhaust gases from combustion are vented into the house. People do not think about it but dryers do not have B-vents...right into the room.

Dennis,

The joke is on you. Charlie has exactly the same arrangement at his pad but he uses a white gym sock. He thinks it is easier to figure when it is full of lint if it is white because then it looks like a foot.
