If you're a REALTOR, chances are you know you way around at new community parties, opening events, and charity celebrations. Wish you were better at ordering cocktails? Everybody likes to look good when they're out with their friends, but it can be hard when you feel embarrassed to order drinks because you don't know what to do. There are many different types of drinks available, and several things you can do to many of them to change them a little bit to suit your tastes. Unfortunately, remembering even a tiny fraction of these can be difficult at best. Read on for some tips on how to order cocktails like a pro when you aren't.

Know What Is Available

Read through some simple drinks to find out what kind of things you can order and what they're called. Many people get stuck when they get to a bar because they don't know what tastes good and don't know how to order it. You can save yourself quite a bit of hassle by reading through a book or website that lists popular drinks and choosing a few with ingredients you think you'll like to try. Make sure it is a recent list that sticks to popular drinks so you don't end up trying to tell the bartender how to make it. Memorize a few of the drinks on your list and order those.

Pick Your Favorites

If you have a drink you like, ordering something at the bar becomes a much simpler process. Consider sticking to a few favorites that you know how to ask for already, or start searching for your favorite by trying a few new things each time you go out. You certainly don't have to stick to one drink, but choosing something you like and primarily ordering that will make looking like a pro easier.

Learn To Make What You Like

Nothing can make you feel comfortable at a bar like knowing exactly what you want and how to make it. Once you know what drinks you like, read through a bartending book or two to find out how to make it. Pay attention to the words that are used so you can give the bartender directions on exactly what you want using the proper terms. Many lesser known drinks may not be listed in the bartender's book, so knowing how to make what you like can save you from embarrassment and make you look good if you get a blank stare next time you order an unusual cocktail.

Know The Lingo

Once you have a preference, you can go a long way toward sounding like you know what you're talking about by simply understanding the words used to order something properly. For example, "neat" means you want a shot of the specified alcohol without any additives or ice, and "on the rocks" means you want something poured over ice. You can order your drink "up" if you want it shaken up with some ice and then strained without ice into your glass, or "with a twist" if you want an extra bit of garnish or flavor added. Martinis can be "dry" or "sweet" to add extra vermouth to the martini, or "dirty" if you want a little bit of olive juice in the glass.

Good points to know considering the market these days can drive an agent to drink. We need another Goverment program to help deal with all the Goverment programs and a stiff drink or two might help.
