Projected View of Downtown SacramentoBefore moving to the Sacramento area from the Bay area, I remember hearing, "Cow Town", "Sac of Tomatoes". It was quite an adjustment coming from the Bay Area to Sacramento but over the years, I have seen a progressive change in the capitol of California. Sacramento is growing and the sky-line is changing Downtown. New high-rise buildings are being built which only means more jobs and a better economy. Some of the architects have plans for some pretty spectacular looking high-rise buildings that you could say are 'art forms'. The photo to the left where the 2 tallest buildings are is a reindition of how "The Towers" will change our sky-line . Architect, John Saca's 53 story towers will provide 750 new condos, a hotel, Fitness Center, Conference, Ball room, Swimming pool, Spa, Gourmet Restaurants, Market, Concierge services.

Then just a few blocks away will be the "Aura", designed by Daniel Liebeskind's who is the architect that Auradesigned the new Denver Art Museum that opened last week and the Jewish Museum in Berlin. This man has designed two buildings that will be featured downtown. The Aura will have 38 stories with 300 Condos plus amenities. These contemporary buildings offer a new art form for our Capitol.

EpicPictured to the left is the "Epic" also by Daniel Liebeskind and will have 50 stories with 44 floors as designer condos, 4 stories for offices and 2 stories for retail. The views from each of these new buildings will be spectacular and offer a new young look for Downtown while bringing new life to what once was considered a "cow town."

Lofts  "The Lofts pictured to the right is just another reindition of changes and offerings of housing for a more vital and active Downtown Sacramento.

There are so many more under construction and awaiting approval. Just as the Pyramid Building is to San Francisco, we too will have several to choose from. I love the fact that I am here to experience this change and see how much Sacramento has grown in the short time that I lived here. No longer is it necessary to eat at Denny's after 8:00 when I'm finished with my Real Estate day. There are an abundance of fine restaurants and different ethnic foods to choose from as well as staying open later. Sacramento is grown up and can be proud to say that it is the Capitol of California. I can't wait to share our new sky-line photos when all of the 9 high-rises have been built along with the many face-lifts throughout our downtown Sacramento area. It truly will be a change and bring about a thriving, fun, young, vital area. No bucolic town here!

Some of those renders look a lot like some buildings that were proposed here in Las Vegas, but then scrapped. It seems the high rise craze is hitting almost every major city sooner or later. The big thing with recommending one to a client is to make sure they have their funding in place before hand AND they have bought most of the construction material, or have it under contract. Rising construction costs killed several projects here. -Charles

Thanks for adding the link in KK's blog - I had totally missed your post.  Incredible information!!  It's amazing what Liebeskind has done for himself!!  As an architect, it's great to see innovation being appreciated.  The new skyline will be spectacular!

Wow Gena that one picture looks wobbilly...it must be an artist's rendering...

The building is very attractive and should be an asset to your community.  I didn't know Sacremento was also considered a "cow town."  Denver was too.  Sometimes still is!

Kristal, I remember when we moved to Denver from Texas...yes, you are absolutely correct. At that time they were a little backwards. But over the years they've come around. I use to dance for the Denver Civic Ballet Co which from what I understand is under a new name of some sort. Lived there from 1960-1975.

The building looks wobbilly but I guess that is part of his signature...time will tell.

Rick and Inez, Glad you picked up the link. Sometimes we all miss a lot of things depending on what the Rain gods have determined worth while. I know I've almost missed some excellent blogs, myself.

I agree with you about Liebeskind...he is more of an art form than an architect. I can't wait to see all of the buildings when they are finished. Sacramento will have a whole new face.
