Tools for ActiveRain Blogs

Understanding all the tools for your Blog Posts is the ‘Key' to maximizing your exposure to the home buying public.

  • Visibility of a post is a key decision: public, members only, draft or associates only (like a facebook friend)
  • Next choice is localism which you can push to a certain community location homepage even at the neighborhood level.
  • Channels - A lot of traffic is driven to these locations.  It is broken out by professional vs. consumer with subcategories underneath.
  • Groups - up to 5 groups that you subscribe to
  • Categories - Not as important as picking channels
  • Outside Blog - You can push it to as many of the outside blogs that have set up.  You can also publish to collaborative blogs that others share with you.
  • Reblogging - The value and benefit of reblogging on ActiveRain.  The better your content, the more likely others will reblog your article bringing more exposure and awareness to your content with their traffic.  Good manners (as well as interacting with others) mean that you should review your reblogs and provide feedback to them as well as possibly reblog some of their great content.
  • Comments - To sum up, Brad feels that it is appropriate for your to respond back to people who have left you a comment.  There was some discussion about how do you know if the person ever comes back to read but the bottom line is it doesn't matter.  It's just good to respond and acknowledge that the comment was left.

Localism.  Hit Router - setting up your hit router account using you IDX increases the chances of converting visitors into leads, and leads into clients.  Need to make sure you have this setup to get the best seo back to your site.

Custom Outside Blog - Can be completely different than your blogposts

Referral Network.  This is your chance to network with your AR peers with referrals.

Welcome Home - The ActiveRain ‘My Home" page is where all these tools and service are available.

ActiveRain University - Brad's new focus.  ActiveRain.com/University for FREE training on how to succeed in ActiveRain.  Webinar format.

Now back to Ben Kinney....

Getting Soci@l For Real Estate Agents  Socialthebook.com  = there are no shortages of social networks to join.  The trifeca is LinkedIn, twitter and Facebook.

Remember the six degrees of separation - we are only six people away from everyone else on the planet.  Ben's assumption is that everyone is only two degrees away from anyone that he's dated.  ;-)

Are We Hardwired for A Limits?  Anthropologist Robin Dinbar argues that the limit is 150 social connections.

Things to Remember with your brand

  1. Be Remarkable - While driving through Bakersfield, you'd only remember one cow - the purple cow.  You need to be different in your marketing.
  2. Should you separate business and personal lives?  No.  You need to keep things together otherwise the public will be confused.  You can't have two facebook accounts otherwise your customers who want to find you in one will be hurt if you reject and only allow you to see the other.  Be careful.  Does your offline brand match the online brand?  Be who you are, but be consistent.
  3. Does your online content match your ideal brand?  You need to sometimes moderate your online opinions.
  4. Does my brand relate to my audience? Do you show up in suit at a cash-for-keys?  Match image to the client.

Creating Your Brand

Logotournament.com - You can get 30 to 100 graphic designers to compete to design your logo.  You rank the submitted logos on a daily basis to help refine the process.  Only costs $250

Now on to a Special Guest - Tom Ferry!

Consistent Branding Online

No slides.  Great presentation.  A couple of notes....

Write about what you love.  Put your message out there as much as you can.

What kills your performance?   Why do you stop or hold yourself back?  It's the same fear that pervades other areas of your life.

You're addicted to one or more of the following four things:

  • opinions of other people.
  • drama
  • the past
  • worry

The five people you spend the most time with are addicted to the same things that you are.   He dares you to operate at level 10 - don't be a candy ass.  Don't give a hoot about what other people think.  The four addictions are what hold you back.

Things to do every day:

  1. Exercise for 5 minutes a day for the rest of your life.
  2. Write down every day what you need to release.  What are you holding on to that you need to let go of?
  3. What are you grateful for?
  4. What are you declaring (goals)for the day, week, month?

Tom's new book - Life! By Design! is currently ranked #4 on the New York Times Best Seller list.  He's hoping that we'll all help him to achieve his goal which is a #1 placement.
