NEW PROPOSED COMMUTER SERVICE ACROSS LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN/ Mandeville La

 At this time, I'd also like to announce a proposed new service coming available to North Shore residents, which will be located on the shores of Mandeville.  It is a water bus service called The Pontchartrain Express and its mission is to transport commuters between the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain and the South Shore in New Orleans in a dynamic, swift and safe manner. At the time of this writing surveys are being taken in regards to shuttling to and from the boat and exact location of departure and arrival. Upon arrival to the South Shore Ferry Landing, luxury buses/shuttles will be available to transport the commuter to their final destination, yet to be determined by survey results. Shuttle transit time on either side of Lake Pontchartrain will be approximately 15 minutes, traffic and weather permitting.  Traverse time will take approximately 40 minutes.  Commuters can relax in comfortable seats while watching TV, checking email, surfing the web on free wireless internet connection, or enjoying a cup of gourmet coffee with their paper. The first ferry, named the Pontchartrain Express 1, is equipped with the latest navigation instruments and safety equipment, enabling the ferry to run on schedule during adverse weather conditions.

Upon approval, final details will be posted on the front of our website, www.cityofmandeville.com and press releases announcing the beginning of this service will be given to every form of media.  Stay tuned for further announcements.
