Whether we like to face it or not, part of our job in real estate will most likely, at some point, involve helping a family face the changing needs brought on by an aging loved one. This may involve helping them trade in a multi-story home for a one-level unit. It may involve selling a property to help pay for an assisted living facility. And, unfortunately, the family may be facing making the difficult decision of nursing home or alzheimers care.
As a Seniors Real Estate Specialist, I am involved with organizations in the community who are committed to helping families who are facing difficult decisions brought on by aging or illness. I would like to share some of the resources I've been accumulating with the hope that it will help others in the Active Rain community who may be dealing with clients who are facing these very issues.
If you follow this link: http://www.findhomesincharlottesville.com/links--articles.asp, you will find articles in .pdf format that deal with topics of selecting a nursing home, medicaid fact sheets, nursing home checklists, as well as links to reports such as the U.S. Nursing Home Registry and violation reports, planning for elder care, Medicare/Medicaid certified nursing homes and more. And, for even more helpful information in dealing with issues affecting seniors and caregivers, feel free to visit my free community service website at www.CynthiaHashCares.org.
I hope this information will help someone. And, please feel free to share things with me that you have found helpful in dealing with these issues.
