Colleen - thank you for mentioning my outside blog - I've actually been doing more exploring out in the blogosphere and it's great to visit familiar faces and take my "blogging education" to the next level. Thanks for giving me a great list of blogs to visit..not sure I've stopped by them all before but you're right - commenting there is appreciated as much or more (due to the scarcity of them) and it's a great way to keep the reciprocity going.

You are such a great community leader - thanks for being so supportive of us all.

Colleen I have been to some of the other blogs that you listed, and all of the ones that I have visited are very well done.  But to tell you the truth, with the limited time that I have, I have a hard time in just keeping up with my Subscribed List here on ActiveRain.

George... that means you need to focus on those people who write lead-in posts and go to their outside blogs so you can get the most from your comments!

focus on 10 a day - you don't need 600

Am going to comment on every one of them tomorrow. seems my better 7/8ths just informed me I have plans for the evening in about a half hour. And am going to enjoy every minute of it, or else!

Thanks for bringing this up. It's something we all must do, so after your list, then it's eveyone we've subscribed and so on.

Cheers...

Hi Colleen - I have GOT to learn to go to outside blogs and see what's going on out in the real world.  I have checked out a couple of these, but tend to hang around AR mostly.  The other blogs that I have visited are just so well-done!  Not only do I need to get outside to other blogs, but I've got to get my own outside blog going.

Thanks for the reminder - to get going on multiple tasks!

Colleen... I totally agree with this. And yes, David makes a good point which I made in this post, How do you view outside blogs?  Even if you see people that write a blog here on AR that leads you to their outside blog, go make a comment on that outside blog. Gee, if you are too lazy to write two comments, copy that comment and come back and post it in the AR community, the blog that you read here.

My personal opinion, people like to be noticed that they left comments here in the Rain. They also don't realize that your comment on the outside can sometimes be picked up while being search. Google search your name, you will see your name appear from those comments that you left on outside blogs. Google doesn't pick up on this when commenting here on AR.

Colleen.... this is a great point and I just don't understand why more don't do this. Good post.

I will have to go and check out some of these outside blogs!  And I really need to get going myself!  BUT I want to point out one thing, on my blog log someone googled a Realtor with the first name Bernadette in Alabama, I had a blog comment from a Bernadette (different last name) I came up on the first page of that search.  Interesting!

I am relativly new to blogging, but I started blogging else where first, and still do. I just post my blogs on both places. There are some great real estate blogs all over the web. There are some great real estate blogs here too. I have already been inspired by many of you, and I've only been here a week.

Ok, I had to come back after a little surfing! I love the way Laurie Manny referenced on a post on her blog (outside AR),  a post on the Rick & Ines's blog, who had a guest blogger, Mariana Wagner.   Three different rainers outside AR in different markets, all helping each other!

Thanks, Colleen, I bookmarked this one to go back and look at all these blogs sometime soon.  I just started my own, and it's really quite elementary.  But I can see the benefits and I hope there will be some other "wordpress" users out there on ActiveRain that I can consult with from time to time.

George -- really it isn't that tough...  You will find the balance..

Alex - so very true!

Ann, Lisa & Robert -- You are very welcome!

Ann C. -- You are welcome.  I dragged my feet for weeks.  And then I got challenged by Laurie Manny and I was hooked!

Sharon --- RSS Readers are nice, but I like to read a blog, they link to another blog, go read there, find a link and hop onto another blog.   I would never have discovered some really interesting sites had I just stuck with what I am familiar with.

Dale -- Thaks for the 5!

Michelle -- Backlinks are terrific!   I am not sure about your question -- Why wouldn't you want people to link to you?

Jeff -- Thanks for the interesting point, I would have appreciated you asking first to put the link in, not doing so can be considered Comment Spam.   What people are missing is that commenting on somone else's BLOG is beneficial to the person leaving it.  Yes 25 points at AR are nice, but wouldn't you like a backlilnk to your website?

Ryan -- This is why so many members put the lead in posts -- Link Love!  Some members hate having to read it elsewhere.  When in truth they are giving a gift to the members here at ActiveRain -- the opportunity for backlinks!

Kim -- It is wonderful to see how we are discovered ov er the Internet...

Stephen -- be careful of duplicate content.  Google will punish you.

Tracey --- it is a big world out there!

Charles -- yes a great resource!

Ashley -- Yea!

Paul & Michelle -- Absolutely!

Ginger -- sometimes it is a little intimidating to comment outside, they have been spoiled with the back and forth and play that happens here.    Yes Laurie Manny is a master at it...

David & Kristin -- You are welcome!

Matthew -- Link love... gotta love it...

Margaret -- We all had a starting point.  Don't worry yours will develop as time goes by..  Remember Rome wasn't built in a day!

EVERYONE --  If you have an outside BLOG and want people to check it out, please feel free to put in your link in your comment!

We did everyone of them as advertised... except could not find a comment link for Cindy Cross. It was fun, informative, and a very worthwhile tour.

Not long ago we read something from TLW about reciprocity, and if I remember from you too, and that very much helped us understand and get more involved with AR.

I think this post is equally important. It means going outside of AR too. Thanks again.

Mitchell: No-follow is a tg that is placed in links when the webmaster or person adding the link does not want the search engines count it as a vote. Basically no follow is telling the engines, here is  link but don't pass any link juice or page rank to it. It just seemed odd that only one link was no-follow but the rest were not. BTW I can tell because I have a Firefox add on that identifies no follow links by highlighting them.
