Regardless of your vocational trek, in all likelihood, you’re going to experience painful labor with what you do. Nowadays the anomalous hardships seem to follow everyone, ranging from the jobless to the big-time corporate executive. Needless to say, the central tasks of human living are fraught with overloaded stress and adversity. Sometimes it’s hard to extract the meaning of work as you robotically try to persevere further than ever before, forgetting why you’re even doing what you’re really supposed to be doing.
Anyone else relate to the ill-effects of excessive, rigorous workloads? If you’re not careful, overworking can literally suck the life right out of you, stealing your identity and leaving you wondering about your real purpose for living.
Since being connected to Colorado Springs Real Estate (1997), I’ve heard of many Colorado Springs Realtors who have fully experienced the depressive outcomes of being “burnt-out.” And the issues of being “burnt-out” are not based on part-time work. The ones affected are those Realtors who have worked long and hard for several years on behalf of their clients. Without doubt, there is such a fine line between doing this business with excellence versus excessiveness – the latter bitterly cutting short the careers of even the best of this profession.
Admittedly so, Cherise has undergone various stages of vocational metamorphosis since becoming a Colorado Springs Realtor. Yet the same struggles exist about how to do this business more effectively without eventually burning out before her time is up. Indeed, she and I have an understanding about hard work ethic, dispensing of any romantic thoughts about leadership; nevertheless, we struggle with what it takes to work a reasonable schedule and how it relates to economic justice for our standard of living – something that seems to be shrinking the longer we live. During this season of work, we feel like we’re literally dying to ourselves within the workplace construct – which is okay.
We shoot for the stars at work because we believe it is our expression of the divine image of God. While we’re in this world, we believe it is required of us to cultivate our creativity toward the original meaning about work, bringing redemption to others through the active truth of God.
So what does this mean practically-speaking? It means we must not compare ourselves with others if we dare to fully live out what we believe. It means work within itself and onto itself is not fully satisfying, even when material wealth is gained. It means regardless of where we are, it doesn’t really matter because as our creativity of work becomes productive so does its meaning and influence. In closing, it means that we must go beyond the idea stage about faith into the mysteries about the divine work of God to see who we are and to discover what we’re supposed to really be doing.
I know this article is a bit philosophical, yet I believe this blog underscores some truthful meanings about hard work against the harsh voice of adversity in the marketplace.
