This weekend, Bellingham,Washington hosted a sand sculpture contest.  It covered the three days of Friday through Sunday.  I happened upon it quite by accident, but since I did have my camera with me, I thought I would check it out.  All the entries had an architect as a sponsor, and they all were interestingly creative.

This one is in progress, and it is being done by a professional sand sculpture team.

And finally, the organizers didn't forget the kids.  There were two very large sand boxes for the kids to play in.  Any local cats would have been in exstatic.kids

As always, thanks for looking.

Hi David,

Thanks for sharing these pictures.  That must take lots of work.  I think I liked the mouse and cheese one and the whale one the best.

Thanks for commenting on my roses yesterday.  It had been really warm, in the 70's.  Tonight, I'm worried about our first hard frost.  I know it will wipe out my tender summer annuals.

Hello David,
It is awesome what these people can do with sand.  Sure makes the sand castles I help my kid make look pitiful.
