Saturday, April 10th, 2010 was the perfect day for bike riders from all over the Eastern United States, and even our neighbors from the north in Canada. These riders completed a 40K, 60K, or even a 100K bike ride through the winding mountains of Western North Carolina and South Carolina. The diverse group of riders were from age 17 to 71.
More than 400 cyclist participated in this years assault on the Carolina's that was hosted by the Pisgah Forest Rotary Club. All of the proceeds went to the Boys and Girls Club of Transylvania County, North Carolina and The Sharing House, Dare, and some other charitable organizations.
I spoke to one of my friends, Mr. Dru Bridges who owns 4-Rent in Downtown Brevard, right after he participated in the assault on the Carolina's. He had a huge smile on his face. He was excited about the turn out for this years event. Two of the most grueling parts of the ride were peddling up Caesars Head in South Carolina, and the Walnut Hallow Road section in North Carolina.
This years Assault on the Carolina's was a huge success and I believe next years event will be even better. We are very blessed to live in this beautiful area. The more people who learn about this event the better. The cyclist get to test their skills and endurance while enjoying one of the most beautiful parts of our country.
