Got GAS?? It's a Community Project!! (and DON'T Pull my finger!!!)

I stumbled across this information early this morning while trying to research some utility information for a project developer during his cost analysis of a project in Michigan.

PROJECT GOAL - Affordable, Sustainable, Green Development

The developer called me yesterday and asked me to see if I could research some savings for infrastructure development. In order to keep the homes in this development in an affordable price range - $115,000 - 130,000 - some type of concessions need to be made on the costs to run utilities to the development. Estimates came in quite high. This developer is very conscientious in keeping the infrastructure costs at a minimum so he is able to reflect those savings to the end-user -- THE HOMEOWNER -- the most important part of the equation.

Responding to his plea I gave up my evening of commenting and blogging ideas and started surfing the ‘net to see what kinds of ideas I could come up with...solutions to the high cost of utilities.

ISSUE - reduce infrastructure costs so less costs are reflected to homebuyer.

Possibly a SOLUTION???

HBH Gas Systems (Austin, Texas) has formed a strategic alliance with Ferrell Gas to provide Central Gas Distribution Systems utilizing PROPANE. Propane is an alternative energy and looks like a great alternative to dependency on electric power.

I know I love my natural gas oven, water heater and dryer - what a great alternative to electric. Never thought of propane as an alternative.

I use it at my cabin for heat and domestic water and it does seem less expensive. It's just having to watch the durn tank (and paying the bill twice a year)! What if it came to my house in the same way as my natural gas and I didn't have to mess with filling a tank?

Enter the Central Gas Distribution System!

Propane is a federally approved alternative "green" energy identified in the Clean Air Act according to the HBH website.

Follow my links to HBH Gas Systems.  There is an educational video (4 minutes) showing how the benefits of the Central Gas Distribution Systems. They promise their systems are less expensive to:

1. The Developer
2. The Builder
3. The Homeowner

The HBH Website mentions potential financial incentives in some states. I think it is a viable alternative worthy of more research.

The website shows 6 case studies in the U.S. They are a quick synopsis and have piqued my interest in the applications for Michigan and other parts of the country. Several large developers are also listed who are implementing the system.

I like the idea of a cleaner fuel which reflects less expense, ultimately, to the homeowner while benefiting the environment. I have requested a rep contact me and look forward to more information (of course I will share!)
