Nature Is Calling Again - One Year Later !

It was obvious to me that this Bee couldn't see me very well since it has coated
itself and it's eyes with pollen. Make hay while it lasts, I suppose. I
sure would like to know where these bees take all this stuff.

This particular plant  has an abundance of flowering parts and
the bees really enjoy it. As close as I got to them, they didn't seem
interested in me at all. Which is good, I'm not really big on bee
stings.

For those of you that follow me, you may recall it was a year ago this week that I
took my first photo with an SLR camera. It was a Pentax and I upgraded
over Christmas to the Nikon D-90. That photo was of a bee at this very
same plant. The difference was that I had trimmed all the flowering parts
away so the bees wouldn't sting my little Yorki. That is a whole
other story. I struggled mightily and got him in mid flight  but he
was a tad out of focus. I ran out of patience at the very same time I
ran out of skill. But I was still excited about the effort. An ahhh moment ! So I posted
the best that I had.

That photo is here below. What a difference a year
makes.

Hi Marlene, I am thinking that by next year, I will have most everything worked out ( and acquired a new wide angle lens ) and be a really good at the CS4 photoshop. I am learning that program through Deke McClellan's course at Lynda.com. He is amazing! Haven't used it on my photo's as yet but will be soon.

If you get that close on any human subjects you'll have to use vaseline and gauze!!!

William - You ask a great question!  I don't know if they have teeth.  I'd almost rather they did, rather than that stinger they use sometimes:-)   It is interesting to watch them work in a hive however!  I could do that for hours on end!

Hi Myrl,

I saw an allegator photo recently that someone had photo shopped in a set of pearly whites. It was so funny. Now I can't remember where I saw it but it was sort of what  I envisioned when I said that to you. I went to look today and I could've had my choice of Bee subjects. They were less active in fluttering around and more tuned into the serious business of collecting the pollen. But  I decided that one up close and personal  bee photo a year is enough, LOL.

William - That peculiar looking aligator was on John Mayer's blog titled, "You Never Know What You're Going to Catch."  I thought it was humorous too!  I thought for sure it was a cross between a crocodile and an aligator.  Also known as an alidile, or crocogator:-)

Hi Marchel,Many thanks. I have learned a lot and still in mode. Sort of looking for  the wide angle lens for interior work. Next after that will be night time shots with aux lighting. I used to be so impatient  but I realize to learn it right it takes time and I guess I am OK with that.

Not as yet on the furry question. I still have dreams with her asking me to breath for her and when they stop I might consider it. I know it is stupid but I still have her bed in place and actually look for her so I think it is best to just give it time, tempting tough it is.:-)

Hi William!  You never cease to amaze me with your photography skills!  What a beautiful presentation as well.  ONE of these days, I'm going to have time to really dive into photography too.  You'll certainly be one who I will use as a mentor!

Have a fabulous Friday...

Hi Debe, Thank you very much, that was such a wonderful comment. I don't know if you will come back to read my response but I can offer a tip to you based on my experience. " ONE of these days, I'm going to have time to really dive into photography too". Don't wait. Even if you start out slow, get that camera if you don't have one and make a start. My biggest regret was not starting to take serious what I would come to love ,sooner.Time always flies quickly and that " One day" seems to get pushed off further and further into the future. Go for it!

I recently got my first DSLR which happens to be the D90 also and I do have to say "I have a long way to go, to catch up with your skill, but I'm working on it!!!" Great shot and I agree, what a difference a year makes!
