Stepping out in Boston, MA

My Sweetie mentioned that she ought to take me somewhere to celebrate her wedding anniversary.
Well, that made sense to me. See, I have a significant survival instinct.
She mentioned Charleston, SC, Myrtle Beach, SC, Savannah, GA.
I came back with Wilmington, NC and went down in flames instantly.

So, I "thought about it." Which usually means "I forgot about it."

Not this time. See, a couple of years ago, Sweetie had mentioned we should go to Boston one day. And somewhere in the dusty recesses of my mind, one romantic little gray matter cell sparked to life, and I said, "Hey, how about we go to Boston?"
Didn't need any closing techniques for that pitch.
She said, "Where do I sign up?"

And we jetted off to Boston, MA. JetBlue, that is.
I had never been to Boston. I had been to Wellesley, and to Gloucester, MA, but not to Boston. Well, we fixed that.

Boston Commons, Boston Public Garden, top of the Prudential Building, Duck Tour (yes, we did.) Boston Public Library, Old Granary Burial Grounds, Old South Meeting House, Faneuil Hall, USS Constitution, Parker House for Boston Cream Pie, 21st Amendment, Black Seed, The Marliave, Newbury Street, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and various necessary etceteras. This was all in 4 days. And we got some extra sleep, too.
There was something special about walking up to say, "Hi," to Paul Revere, John Hancock, and their assorted pals.
The Red Sox were out of town, thank goodness. I don't know how much I would have been willing to pay to see a game at Fenway Park. But I am afraid it would have been a LOT!

I took the wrong camera with me. I took the snapshooter, and it is a little less capable than my real estate camera. But, I got shots of some steps here and there.

Boston ranks right up there in the top cities I like to visit. It's a short list, San Francisco, Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, Boston.

Nice perspective on stairs, Mike - enjoyed the show.  It reminds me, though, that I must sort some of my photos into groups like stairs, fountains, clouds, etc.

Boston has so much history to it. I like your choice of photo themes. Where are the shots with the big circular stairway taken?

Maria,

Thanks, My wife had to drag me away from Faneuil Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts.

John,

That was the Old State House.  The one the Bostonians abandoned after the war because it was British...

Hi Mike, That was very good and quite different. Imagine all the stairs you have climbed in your life. How fun to capture at least a few of them.

Melinda,

A reminder to take life "...one step at a time...."

William,

Thanks.  I think we climbed a bunch of stairs in one weekend, even.

Mike, my sweetie and I went to Boston on our honeymoon, many many moons ago. Camera's weren't as good then as they are now (still had color though!)  but I did get a picture of Plymouth Rock.  have a great time, just watch the drivers!

Linda,

Certainly not a driver's town, is it? But it is SO walkable!

Debi,

Thanks. Repetition, and light and shadow float my boat...

My wife had to just about carry me out of Faneuil Hall (the black and white Escher stairs) and the Museum of Fine Arts (The concrete walls and marble stairs, with brass and glass rails).

I felt terrible that I couldn't get a good shot of the absolutely beautiful staircases in the Boston Public Library and the Huntington St entrance to the Museum of Fine Arts. No tripod, and I couldn't steady the camera for the long exposures needed.
