Everett, WA, 25 miles North of Seattle, originally an old mill town, is now an "All American City" with over 97,500 residents. Everett has sister city relationships with Sovetskaya Gavan, Russia; Iwakumi, Japan; and Kligo, Ireland.

Everett is the sixth largest city in the State of Washington and is home to the County Seat Government, Snohomish County.

Everett is surrounded to the West by the saltwater shoreline of Port Gardner Bay and Possession Sound with the Olympic Mountains crowning the picture. To the Northeast and East are the shores of the Snohomish River, the majestic Cascade mountain Range, Mt. Baker to the North and a peek of Mt. Rainier to the South.

Everett has a growing economy with government, business and community partnerships in the arts and education. Our labor force, more than 80,000 is predominantly techonlogical, aerospace and service based industries.

Everett is home to the Naval Station Everett, a state-of-the-art naval base that houses seven ships including the U. S. S. Abraham and U. S. S. Shoup.

Everett is the gateway to the famous San Juan Island archipelago at the juncture of the straits of Georgia and Juan de Fuca where seals, sea lions and whales live and play.   It's not uncommon to see a Bald Eagle, Blue Herron, or a killer Whale any day of the week, or to enjoy the barking of the sea lions at the Marina in the spring when weather warms.

Everett houses the second largest marina on the West Coast and has over 1600 acres of parks, trails and lakes. We have the best salmon and steelhead fishing on the coast.

Everett houses the Boeing Plant, the largest building in the world by volume at 116.5 million cubic feet. She holds the Boeing 787 Dreamliner along with the 747. Adjacent to Beoing is the Paine Field Airport that services Boeing. It's not uncommon to watch the new planes "roll out" for their test run and see them take off at intimate vantage points on the roadside. What a thrill.

Everett has a new Everett Events Center that seats 8,000 people to enjoy the Everett Silvertips Hockey Team, the Everett Hawks an indoor football team, along with popular singersand acts.  Everett is also home of the Everett Aqua Sox, a minor league basebal team of the Seattle Mariners.

Everett is 60 miles from the Cascade Mountain Range and Eastern Washington where people enjoy a "desert" climate; sun and heat in the spring and summer months with extreme cold and snow in the mountains in the winter.

We are proud of our city and look forward to Everett "growing up". In cooperation with the Everett Riverfront Master Plan and the redevelopment along the Marina, we will see future  waterfront condominiums, retail and hotels to enjoy our majestic shoreline.

When you plan to visit Everett, bring your camera, you'll never know when you meet up with a pod of whales, a lazy sea lion lounging, a screeching bald eagle or a blue herron getting ready to dive for his daily meal. Don't forget your fishing pole, to get the "catch of the day". Or maybe, just maybe, you want to drop a crab pot to entice our curious dungeness crab for your evening feast.

Oh, and don't forget your "snow gear". You can travel 60 miles and be in the mountains where you can enjoy the snow, a Bavarian Village, Leavenworth that is so unique, you'll swear you are in Europe.

We love our great city and we welcome you to come and enjoy it too. Do look me up, I'd be delighted to give you the grand tour, http://www.karensvillas.com/

Toby beat me to it.  mmmmmmm dungenous crab. Haven't had them for 20 years and my mouth still waters when they are mentioned.  Beautiful pictures. I'd sort of forgotten what a beautiful area that is.

What a gorgeous area. Too bad we can't subdivide ourselves and live everywhere at the same time. Happy New Year!

Karen

You've made me homesick.  I lived in the great Pacific Northwest for 6 years and LOVED every minute of it.  We live in Sarasota FL now which is fantastic, but I find myself yearning for that crisp mountain air and the beautiful scenery.

Thanks for the memories.

Karen,

Your blog was so interesting and attractive, I decided to try one for myself.

I hope that you will be able to see mine. I have tried to show some of the highlights of living in Southern California, especially the San Fernando Valley..

Karen - I believe Everett may still have the largest number of boats in the West. At least it used to when I kept mine at Dagmar's (is it still there?) Used to love going out in the sound, 60 mph was an adventure on the water up there sometimes.
