I Will Never Forget You--My Broker, My Mentor, My Friend
Well, it has been kind of a rough week. Monday morning came the e-mail. How could this happen? Finally, I had found my mentor, someone I could communicate with easily, someone who "got me," someone with whom I could speak absolutely freely.
How could this happen? His wife Virginia had waited for him her whole life. He was her first husband just 6 years ago. How could this happen? His dream, "Texas Home Group" was rapidly growing and he was doing it right with training, support, gorgeous facilities. He was on target at just over 300 agents to reach his goal he and Virginia had set for 2013.
How could this happen? My husband and I had dinner plans with them next week. How Could This Happen? He made me laugh, kicked my butt when necessary, and was there for me when I didn't even know how much I needed it.
He was there to get me back on track. Finally, someone who spoke my language, no bull, no fluff and really cared--not the "saccharine" kind of "now I am pretending to care about you so that you will be productive" My God, he really cared, he cared with all his heart. He was all heart.
I will always remember our code word, really an acronym. IFMO---"It happened, Forget it, Move On." We laughed and laughed about that. I will continue to carry on "IFMO" and...

He sounds like a great guy...and very special. I am sorry to hear of his death. He will leave behind a legacy with all who cared for him--and it sounds like he touched a lot of people.
Mari ~ I too, lost my Mentor and my Friend, Don Rist, in 2008. I still wish that I could call him and ask him a question or two. I miss him terribly!
Holly, He really was a great guy. Refreshingly so. He did touch many lives
Melinda, It is truly sad. It was so untimely. I am so sorry for your loss. I know you still miss him and always will.
So sad -- sounds like he was a terrific guy and will be missed by many.
You are so right Bob and Carolin. The weirdest part is that at the time of his death, I was still trying to wrap my head around how lucky I was to find someone so different.

Mari, I feel the same way I had the honor of knowing Bob since January but right away I knew he cared he was always there if I had any questions and would put me on the right path. Great man he will be missed.

Hi Teri, I really appreciate to be able to have a friend like you so that we can support each other through this sadness, but also be inspired by his life and work to be launched even higher by his memory and doing it "Bob's way."
