FLICKR.com is a FREE site and resource to manipulate and store digital images and videos.
Once you upload a photo you can obtain a url for the image, re-size it, share presentations online with an embed code or link. Take screen shots and create links or re-size and edit to use as a jpeg if you don't have a tool like snagit.
You can create groups for your customers or clients to upload their photos and establish a fun online community sharing pictures. Think about the possibilities for your local communities. Set up groups within your personally branded account for schools, for events or a specific subdivision and it's activities or amenities.
I created a group called "Bearizona" in my Flickr Cosmic Cow Pie account to share with anyone who has come to Williams, Arizona to be able to upload their wildlife park pictures and videos from Bearizona.
Bearizona opened May 22, 2010 in Williams, Arizona. I took pictures and created a "set" with my FLICKR account which I can now embed the slide show in my blog in a very short time. Please leave some comments if you like the pictures or the idea.
I am going to create a group for our new community dog rescue center in Williams, AZ. "SaveMTR" Save Meant To Rescue and the organizers will upload pictures of the dogs available for rescue. The dog rescue organizer does not have a computer so this can help at least get the pictures of the dogs out to the public with a place for a description of each dog.
I would like to invite you to practice with me engaging in the Cosmic Cow Pie group sharing some of yourfavorite photos. Check out my Spam photos at Burger King in Maui and a green gecko along with a Cow Pie rock in Sedona, Arizona. Social media is about mixing things up with people from all over the world. Come give it a try then create your own groups and share the fun.
Join the group and post some interesting pictures pictures.... Let's have some fun with photos!
Tom ~ I am so happy to hear that move to action. I signed up about a year ago for Flickr and am just now seeing how important a tool it is and how it fits into everything I am doing. So we are all in the same boat. I hope you will come and join my group and practice on how groups work in different venues. I think it will work for localism projects and you will be helping the community get up and running in social media!
Thanks for sharing the site with us. I am trying to keep up with everything that is going on, but it just seems like I have 10 lb weights on each of my legs in this race to keep pace with all this technology and Social Media.
Carra, it's all in the timing. My nephew/ god child got mnarried over the weekend and the cameras were a clickin. Everybody want the copies, Flickr to the rescue. So appropriate! Thanks
I sure did enjoy the photos, I need to get over to Fickr and setup an account. Just as soon as I get done with all the yard work and the new gardens that I'm workin on, Which I want to have done before next Monday. I'll be sure to stop by your group there.
Don ~ technology just keeps going and going.. There are a few tools that are really helpful and flickr is one of them.. you can create a group where only your family can go.. or people in a certain group.. it just has lots of uses.. and FREE.. so that is the best part.
Fernando ~ Check it out and come back with a post using a slide show so we can see!
Cynthia ~ This is one you should use! Just go slow but get an account set up.
Ed ~ you can make a family group that only family can see... not all your clients.. it's very easy and the perfect way for everyone to share their different shots with everyone! Cool.. so let us know how it works out.
Carissa ~ Do you have a Flickr account? We should connect!
Dale ~ It is a fun site.. could even have some business use for you!
Carra, I really need to spend some more time learning and using Flickr, it seems. God, where will I ever find the time? Oh, that's right, school's out in two weeks...yay me!
This sounds like it would benefit me both personally and professionally.
It's going to be my 4th of July resolution, maybe I'll do better than with my New Years resolutions.
Happy 4th of July.
Margaret
