Being a former Marine, I try to keep my military families informed as to what is going on in the real estate market. The home buyers tax credit has been extended to 2011 for some military personnel. If you are a service member that has been on official duty outside the United States for more than 90 days between Dec 31, 2008 & May 31, 2010, you may qualify for the first time buyers tax credit. The home buyers tax credit has been extended for one year. You can qualify for up to 8,000 for a first time buyer and 6,500 for a move up buyer. To qualify, you have to have an accepted contract by April 30, 2011 and close before June 30, 2011. You may also combine your VA benefits with the tax credit. The government needs to stay with incentives especially for the military. I wrote numerous posts on this similar subject as far as offering programs to assist those that have kept our country safe and out of harms way. They deserve the best. Not just because I served and you served, but all that served.
