With all the things life throws at you in one day, it is now more important than ever to work smarter. Time has become very precious to families over the last year. As more and more employees are expected to work twice as long hours for same pay and children are given idle time to take advantage of all the broad knowledge the world offers through internet etc, many families are now realizing just how valuable time really is!
How many parents think "if only I had listened and not worked so much" after a family crisis occurs? All of us, I believe. That is exactly why time management and working smarter is so critical in this day and age. We must constantly try to be creative as to ways we can use time even with family to be productive financially without even realizing it. An example would be wearing a logo shirt to the supermarket or ballpark with your child. Asking yourself before you commit your time, "is this going to produce income", if not then best to skip that event etc.
In my industry it would be as simple as whether a loan/buyer for example is worth the effort required for it to even be considered by an underwriter for a purchase. Chances are that if your instinct tells you no, sometimes it is in your best interest to go ahead and let go, rather than work yourself and them in circles when after all the time is exhausted you are right where you knew in your mind would be. If you have a buyer for example that puts off getting pre-qualifed then it is not very productive to schedule showings for this client and waist your valuable time trying to find them a home they likely can not even have. If you know your buyer has very questionable credit at best, it would be the same thing. Better to refer them to credit repair rather than waist the time giving them false hope.
It is very important in today's market that we work smart and effective. There are many tools our there that help us make this possible too. We just have to let go of our old methods and thought process.
As parents time is the most valuable thing we can give our children, they will not remember necessarily the amount of money we made, but the times we listened and put them first. That is why it so important to work smart in order to have a better balance of work and family.
