New Payee for San Bernardino County Property Taxes
San Bernardino County Tax Collector Larry Walker has announced that property tax payments for San Bernardino County should now be made payable to "SBC Tax Collector" effective immediately. No longer will property owners in the County be required to keep track of who is the office holder in charge of tax payments!
The County finally caught on that making the payments out to the individual office holders name was a bad policy as this opened the door for misappropriation of payments made out in the name of an individual person. While there are no documented cases of this type of payment problem in San Bernardino, there was a problem in a different county when someone with the same name as the tax collector was able to deposit checks intended for the county.
I am sure that we all welcome this change implementing a new payee for San Bernardino property taxes!
