Stieg this is a great post.  Many are unaware of the over 19 programs available to, not only the renovate homes, but, allow people to purchase homes with as little as $1,000 out of pocket.  The MHFA program you are addressing is Casa HomeHelp program which, if qualifed, will give a person up to $8,500 at 0% and no payments.  It is 70% forgiveable if you live in the home for 6 years as a owner occupied resident.  In addition, this can be used with the FHA 203KS program which will allow a buyer to finance $35,000 to repair a property.  To learn more http://goo.gl/z31Qx.  Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge about these options Stieg.
