piatti gustosi, ottimo cibo...great food!
Plans for our anniversary today included dinner at a restaurant that is new to us. We were excited to try something new but as we headed downtown we were drawn back to one of our favorites, Boccaccia Ristorante.
Located in the Southern Saddlery Building at 3077 Broad Street between Southside and St. Elmo in Chattanooga, Boccaccia is nestled in a restored brick building that provides a warm, relaxed atmosphere. Look for the wooden fencing just past the building because there is not much signage.
The deck outside looks inviting but tough to imagine getting over the traffic noise on Broad Street.
We started our meal with a glass of wine . The tasty bread is perfect for soaking the oil and herbs on the table. Patrice ordered the Arugala salad with spinach while I stuck with the Mama Mia, a hearty salad with eggplant, asparagus slices and diced tomatoes.
The menu is simple and easy to follow, yet full. Like me, you may find yourself changing your mind several times.
The fish of the day was Dover Sole and Penne Pasta served with Salmon in a cream sauce with zucchini, yellow squash and tomatos was presented as a special. Patrice ordered Ravioli Spinaci e Formaggi off the menu. Not your mom's ravioli, this dish is handmade with a cheese blend, sauteed in brown butter, tomatoes and sage. How do you say, "melts in your mouth" in Italian?
I ordered the Rigatoni Nicotera which is a curry cream sauce with Shiitake mushrooms, zucchini and chicken served Rigatoni. Our waitress blew us away with her service and obliged my request to replace the chicken with Salmon and add tomatoes and yellow squash. I couldn't wait to taste this dish and it was wonderful!
The dessert selection is classic Italian and very good but would have to wait for another day. That's a first for us!
