I love seeing it when a kid wants or needs something and then goes about getting it!

This young man, and I think it was a kid who put this up, lives way out in the rural boonies, has no school nearby with a basketball court, no church nearby that might have a facility, and homes all around without driveways or patios that might house a backboard and hoop bought at the store.  Maybe they didn't have money to get one.  But this kid was undeterred!

That bucket is installed with only a couple of nails.

The top of the "hoop" is only 8' high.  He couldn't put it any higher because there would be no backboard.

What ever works.  Now days...that would never fly in most places.  It would have to be new and the right height, not to mention endorsed by someone!

HA!  I wonder how many balls go in the window or door???

The ingenuity of the country boy is endless.  How often do we see the rustic tree house or old tire hanging from a tree limb?

Lovely.

When asked by his dad that night how his basketball game went the young man replied...oh dad you know it was just a drop in the bucket.

William - I don't think that kid cared!

Lenn - isn't that cute?  I bet he played a lot.

Cindy - that bucket isn't much bigger than the drop that went into it, but good one!

Jay - We'll just have to watch to see if this kid shows up in the NBA.

We will never know, John, unless some future newsreel has a historical blurb on the kid when he goes to the Olympics or something.  The house was vacant, and I never saw the family.

My psychic prediction is that this young person...maybe it was a girl...they play sports too....will succeed at whatever she/he attempts...she/he knows where there is a will....she has the vision to make it happen !

Charlie - you may be right!  It is a shed though, so it may have been plexi-glass...    ;)

Jay - a future something at which whatever is needed will probably be brought  to pass.

S&D - with all the paper left on the side of the bucket, it doesn't appear to be something a girl would put up.  But who knows!  Creative kid, making it happen - reminds me of me.

Great insight into something most people would hardly notice, yet you found meaning in an old bucket.

I was really impressed by it Jim.  That is probably a really cool kid.

And then again it could be dad trying to help his kids have a way to shoot hoops on a low budget....

But I like thinking it was the kid who made it happen like you said.
