Good Morning, folks!

We're gearing up for a beautiful weekend in Chicago - not too hot, not too cool, and some great Stanley Cup Playoff Hockey involving the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center on the West Side.

This week, in her Chicago Neighborhood News Post, our Team Member Cathy Mallers covers the Chicago Neighborhoods of Portage Park, Lakeview, The Loop, and Old Town, as well as the stately Chicago Suburb of Oak Park IL.

Have any special Chicago Neighborhood event planned this summer?  Let us know, and we'll help you spread the word.  Dean's Team offers the Number One Rated Real Estate Blog in Chicago!

PORTAGE PARK

When walking through Portage Park it's hard not to consider taking an architectural tour of the area.  Included in this area is the American Institute of Architects Prairie School house of Karl Stecher.  The home was designed by Walter Burley Griffin who was a student of Frank Lloyd Wright.  Most notable on this home are the horizontal board and batten siding on stucco surface and corner windows with geometric mullions.

LAKEVIEW

Come out to Uncle Fatty's this Friday night to meet Ludacris after his concert at De Paul University.  You have to be quick to get the early bird tickets.  Once the first 50 are sold, then you go to the "not so early bird" tickets which are limited to the next 100.  There will be celebrity guests joining at this after party including cover band "Lt. Dan's New Legs" and DJ Dante the Don.

THE LOOP

Sue the Dinosaur at the Field Museum is celebrating her tenth anniversary.  This week was the grand opening of the summer exhibit, Robo-Sue.  The show walks you through the evolution of Sue's life and discovery into a 3-D experience.  Be warned, though, the animatronics are interactive so don't get too close to the triceratops or Sue herself.

OLD TOWN

When visiting Chicago, a lot of times people want to get an insider's view of the local neighborhoods.  The service is completely free and is offered by city-wise volunteers who want to share their knowledge of Chicago's neighborhoods.  There are more than 25 neighborhoods and 40 areas of interest which include Film, Ethnic Chicago, Fashion and Art.  This weekend the Old Town Instagreeter Outpost will be located at Second City, 1616 N. Wells Street.  The size of the groups are limited to six and are taken out first come, first served.

OAK PARK

Oak Park trustees continue to support green initiatives throughout the city by proposing a free parking ordinance.  Anyone who drives an electric car would receive two free hours of parking on public streets.  For monitoring purposes electric cars would not be able to park in the parking structures.  To qualify, the vehicles must be licensed by the Secretary of State and would have a special permit issued to identify them.
