In Jeanna Martinez's excellent blog post "Schedules, planning, accountability... blah blah blah," Jeanna raves about how making a weekly schedule helped keep her sanity intact.
My question to her (and all of you) is: what do you do when real life gets in the way of that schedule?
I'm not talking about the things we can control out of our schedule - the appointments, the children's activities, the phone calls. I'm wondering more about the "little things" we can't control (mine happen to be 5 years old and 2 years old - and 35 years old). I can "time-block" out as much of the day as I want, put in flex-time and padding, but I find that if something small interferes with that block, then my whole day is thrown off.
So in addition to the question I've asked above, I'll ask this of all of you - "how do you get your brain back in the game?" How do you keep from getting so distracted by "life" that you lose the time to do what needs to be done?
