Overview:
In Austin they like to "Keep it Weird"... in Dallas the residents of Little Forest Hills like to "Keep it Funky". LFH is a small community of about 1000 homes just on the east side of White Rock Lake. The homes were built mostly in the 1920s-1940s and often range in size from 700-2000sqft. Obviously there can be exceptions. In 2000 the Dallas Observer named Little Forest Hills as the Best Neighborhood in Dallas. If you have been looking at the cookie cutter neighborhoods in the burbs and are tired of seeing the same ole same ole houses that all look alike, feel alike, and have two small HOA required trees in the front yard, come check out LFH. I think of it as Dallas' Artist Enclave. This community has neat and unique homes, a progressive neighborhood association that cares, big trees, and a super location just North of downtown Dallas. For families relocating from the Northeast or Northwest and places like Seattle or Portland and still wanting that feel... this is about as close as we're going to get in these central Texas plains. This neighborhood was also the subject of a 2007 documentary "Subdivided", which discusses the benefits of urban living in neighborhoods such as Little Forest Hills vs. living in the burbs with a long distance commute.
