"Passport To History" - Grants Pass Pharmacy - Grants Pass, Oregon

Pharmacy

The Josephine County Historical Society's "Passport To History" continues.

Pharmacy

Today we stopped in at the Grants Pass Pharmacy for a "phosphate," which was an old-fashioned, hand mixed fountain treat.  I couldn't believe the price -- 25¢.

Pharmacy

This quaint Pharmacy is full of modern goods and looks like any other modern day drug store, only with very expensive merchandise to the average fare.  That is, until you approach the soda fountain, and then it's like a "Twilight Zone" return to the past.

Pharmacy

To use a term to describe the Grants Pass Pharmacy that was a common term in its' day, as it is today; It was "cool!"

When was the GP Pharmecy opened?  My family was good friends with the Stidham who owned the store for many years. I enjoyed your Passport to History. I was married in the Newman Methodist church - so more memories.  Thank you.
