Be a Part of Londonderry's New Playground Today!

project play logoIf you haven't noticed the large sign up in front of Londonderry's central fire station, Project P.L.A.Y. has been working hard to raise the funds necessary to renovate the Nelson Road playground, the town's only public playground. Built about 20 years ago, the existing playground has fallen into disrepair and is in desperate need to be brought up to current safety standards.

Since fundraising began at last year's Old Home Day celebration, the one-year-old non-profit organization has brought in about $30,000 in donations, all of which has come from the generosity of individuals and businesses as well as from events such as the group's successful Touch-A-Truck fundraiser, held on Father's Day weekend this past June.

For the month of July, Project P.L.A.Y. focused on its corporate campaign, sending out hundreds of letters to local businesses and even conducting a phone-a-thon.

Sample engraved fence picketsNow, the push is on to collect personalized fence picket orders, the organization's "grassroots" campaign. Until August 31st, individuals can order an engraved fence picket for just $50 and personalize it any way that you wish, such as your family name, names of loved ones, or even with positive messages such as "PLAY HARD" or "HAVE FUN." The eco-friendly, low-maintenance, composite fence pickets will then surround the new playground and help create a safer environment for the children. It's a unique way to have a lasting memory in town for your family, one that they can visit for years to come and feel proud that they supported this community effort.

This low price will only be good until August 31st, so hurry and order yours today! Forms can be found at http://www.projectplaylondonderry.org/ and mailed to Project P.L.A.Y., P.O. Box 312, Londonderry, NH 03053-0312. You can also drop off your donation to a committee member at the following times:

1. August 6th Concert on the Common - Project P.L.A.Y. will have a display at the Brickyard Blues performance, which begins at 7pm.

2. August 18th Old Home Day - Project P.L.A.Y. will have a booth at the event, so please visit them anytime that day!
