Crye-Leike Real Estate For Sale SignHave you been curious about advertisements for properties like this www.123MainStreet.com? Here's a creative use of technology to save money on this popular marketing service.

There are several companies out there that you can pay to create a web site for your listing and then advertise a unique web address just for that listing. However these companies charge set up fees and/or monthly subscription fees that quickly add up to a big expense.

Your listing is already online on your own web site and/or your company's web site! No need to pay for another web site. Just register the custom web site address and then automatically forward buyers to the right spot when they type it in. Why use another web site when your listing on our web site already has everything buyers want to see?

  • Shows the photos & virtual tour (or real estate show)
  • Emails you inquiries
  • Advertises open houses
  • Includes property description
  • Shows your photo and contact information
  • Links to demographic and map info (other features...)

Go Daddy Domain Name RegistrationHere's an easy way to get more bang for you buck & advertise a single property web address:

  1. Visit www.GoDaddy.com and register the domain name for $9/year.

  2. Use Go Daddy's 'Web Forwarding' service (included with purchase)
to send buyers to your listing already online.

What's the web address to forward to?

Here's the info specific to Crye-Leike agents. (If you are not with Crye-Leike, check and see if your listings have a short address or what the link directly to a listing is.)

Every listing on the Crye-Leike web site has a unique address like this: http://www.crye-leike.com/memphis/2657844

Just substitute your property's MLS name & number in the link. (Verify this address on the 'printer friendly' version of the crye-leike.com property display.) You could also forward to your personal Crye-Leike web site using the same concept, example http://harold.crye-leike.com/memphis/2657844.

What's the advantage?

  • Only $9! Saves you the expense of paying for a separate web site, when your listing is already on the web!
  • Also when buyers visit this single property site, they will also be able to easily click to search other properties in the area - while staying on your web site.
  • Our Automatic MLS downloads save you time from extra typing and uploading photos on yet another web site.
  • Provides an address that is easy for buyer's to recall.
  • Impresses sellers to have their own web site address included as a marketing service.

Advertise web address in marketing & showcase service in listing presentations.

Hi Angie - I LOVE this idea!!!  I've thought about the address having its own website, but don't think I would have thought to tie it right into my website like this.

LOVE IT!!!!

Very nice idea, I do there for my listings and have mainly been advertising them through my fliers and my website.

Funny you should post this.  I was just on godaddy this morning looking into this option.

Thanks for the great response.

Lori - I've seen them for even more than $75 each....

Deb - curious had you heard about this idea somewhere else or you were just exploring possibilities with web forwarding?

I forgot to add one thing.... if you want to advertise the address on the for sale sign -another expense for this would be the purchase of the sign rider. I checked with our marketing department and for Crye-Leike agents these sign riders are about $10/15 to order just one.

Hi Angie,

I like this idea very much.  I am creating property business cards for my listings with a picture of the home and some features.  This would be perfect to add on there.   I think my clients would really like it too!

Patrick - that sounds interesting. Feel free to scan in one of your cards and link to it here. It might give other people some ideas as well.

Angie...thanks...I've done this on many of my listings for a couple years and my sellers love it! I make a 'sign rider' with the url on my comuter, laminate it and hang it from the sign.  I've received many hits and calls from it.

Angie - I'm not a realtor but I always wanted to know how to do this.  I think that advertising single property listings and virtual tours would get agents a lot more listings.

Real Estate shows is coming out with a flier feature soon, it is going to have the show embedded in the center.  Would you be able to use the flier page is the single property page?

Angie, thanks for reminding me to do this.  I learned this from my first CRS class and I still haven't done anything about it.  Your post is like a "I should have had a .." moment.  Thanks for sharing.

Mary - I'm cuious... for the listings that you've been doing this for... have you been purchasing separate web sites or have you been forwarding to another address like the example above?

Maureen - I have not seen the flyer that you are referring to... but each real estate show has its own unique web address, so I certainly think you could apply the same concept and just forward to that web site address for the show. You could also ask res about it. They're great about answering questions quickly.

Yolanda - If you end up setting one up, feel free to leave a link here. I'd love to see it.

Great idea that we are using as well.  We actually sponsored a website for Domains, that is backed by GoDaddy.com to save realtors money.  It is TopAgentDomains.com and the fee is just $7.85 a year with all of the same great service you would expect of GoDaddy.  Enjoy!

You can actually get a .info from godaddy fo 99 cents! Perfect and inexpensive way to advertise your properties...

James - Thanks for sharing the link here for registration at even a less expensive cost than godaddy.

Tom - I did not realize that about the .info domains. Thank you so much for sharing that as well. I think that could definitely be helpful depending on how it was used. If the plans were to advertise the address on the flyer in the box on things they take with them etc I think .info would be ok. But I think if it is just advertised on the sign rider, I think once they get to their computer and try to remember a lot of people may remember the street but try to type in .com..I'm not sure just my initial reaction. I think its really great though.... $0.99 cents - WOW. You could do that for everyone of your listings....

Angie, great post.  I actually have a post coming Monday that deals with this.  It's something I cover in blog class.

Without explanation, I'll just drop a link here.  http://666easystreet.blogspot.com/

Of course this is just my example site. Look for my post on Monday.

Awesome that this is so affordable.  I didn't realize there were so many services available for such a low dollar figure.  Great value.  I'm often asked by Realtors (and homeowners, interestingly) whether these websites really help.  My answer is that the site itself is only a tool, and success depends on how often and effectively it is used.  Agree?

Cheers from DC!

Jaynee - I certainly agree. Any tool like a web site etc needs to be promoted and used. Just to have it in existence is not necessarily helpful. But if you add it to your flyers, and sign, etc then people start using it.

Rosemary - When you set one up, feel free to come back here and leave a link to it. I would love to see it in action. I didn't have an example when I wrote this.

Joe - I agree. It certainly would even be more affordable with a .info domain.

In case anyone is curious to see an example...here is a site a Crye-Leike agent, Joan Jenkins, set up for one of her listings. It uses web forwarding and the concept explained above.
