I'm pretty sure that there are many reasons why A1 Self Storage is in business. One of those reasons is so that you, Mr. and Mrs. Seller, can put certain things in storage there while your home is on the market. We want to do everything possible to get you a quick and easy sale for the most money. What if you had an Open House, and this little fellow greeted everyone who came to the front door? Especially if your home is going to be marketed to demographics that include families with children, something like that at the front door can certainly put visions in the minds of those little ones that could create nightmares that night. I'm pretty sure such nightmares will take your home out of consideration. Please listen to your Realtor when they provide you with advice on how to make your home more marketable. There is a method to our madness, and it usually comes from lots of experience and knowledge. ♫♪♫♫♪♫ If you're looking for a great San Diego Realtor, well, I'm available 24/7, so feel free to contact me by phone or email. LOL, well, that might give someone nightmares for sure! Art is a matter of taste, and many people have bad taste in case you haven't noticed!
Hi Jim~ That sure enough would scare even me! Those kind of things have to go in order for the home to appeal to many buyers!
Nothing kills a first impression more than a demon at the front door!
My personal favorite was a home with an actual stuffed giraffe in the vaulted ceiling living room. Not a toy, the real thing. Who hunts giraffes? Needless to say the home stayed on the market until the listing expired. The listing broker had told the seller repeatedly that the giraffe was problem and that EVERY broker mentioned it in their feedback. He never listened.
I am just amazed at the things sellers insist on leaving out while showing this home that they supposedly are wanting to see. It's so hard to keep a strait face with some of the creepy things I've seen while showing a home. I don't know about you but there was not a class on "how to not looked shocked when showing a home" when I was getting my license, or continuing ed for that matter.
Fortunately, the Realtor with the best sense of humor usually wins!!
How about an entry mat that says "GO AWAY"-- have you seen that one!? Another item destined for storage or the trash bin if you are listing your home. Too funny! (Wonder if the buyers would offer cash for the demon post settlement, just to ward off any bad spirits?)
Hi Jim, Great advise! Gargoyles at the front door? ...that'd give me nightmares! jay
Jim, that's a funny post and a great way to stress to clients the need to PUT THINGS UP!!!
:)
Jim,
I have a listing that needs to store a ton of stuff, but no money. I'm actually thinking of lending her the money just to get it done.
Jim,
Good point. There are lots of crazy things like this. Also, perhaps the teenager in the house should take down the posters on the bedroom wall.

Jim.....Very well said. Realtors® know from experience what is helpful and what is harmful when it comes to getting a home sold - Isn't that why a seller hires us? Seems like they might do well to listen to the Realtors® advice!
Hey, Everyone - Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.
I'm trying to catch up on all my blog posts since I've been neglecting them, for good cause, though, since I've been busy.
Since this post is old, I won't respond to each and every comment like so many people do. Rather, I'll read through all the comments and respond to any that have questions or otherwise need a response.
I'll also be by your blog soon to return the favor by reading your posts and leaving comments, too. Do unto others as they have already done unto you. lol
Again, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Make it a great day, a great week, a great month, and finish out 2010 on a natural high!
