The Sun is quickly disappearing over the mountain tops. The sky is layered in orange, pale blue and white...pretty soon deep pink and purple will appear. My son and his best friend are downstairs and I can hear the giggles and laughs as they wait for the charcoal to heat up enough to cook the trout we just caught. I'm having a long weekend at our cabin.

Lake Arrowhead is a magical place for me. We've owned this home for over 10 years and it never ceases to give me an inner calm when I'm here. Although I call it our cabin, it's big enough to accommodate our 5 kids and as many friends as they can bring. It is a barn design and our deck sits 2 stories above the ground nestled in the trees. Right now...from my deck I am seeing the shadows and shapes of dusk take form.

All is right with my world, doesn't get much better than this.

Karen- It sounds like a great place to unwind and recharge.  Your description fills in where the photo leaves off.  Thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend as much as you have so far.

Karen, what a few. We have a small getaway too, and as we drive out to it..I feel the stress drain from my neck and body.

The photo exposure, being slightly dark makes the scene seem even more relaxing. To me it seems to invoke a calming feeling, which is the reason we go to beautiful places like this.

And this morning, the kids are going to get up and go fishing. It's small town living in the middle of So. Cal.
