Feeling Good - Loads of photos

By
Home Stager with Home Harmony

If you are anything like you me you love the photos and just want to see more and more so this post is short on words and long on photos. Before and After photos of our hands on redesign staging services.

We have 5 hours and no budget to buy anything. Okay we psent 1.13$ on new plastic bathroom curtain rings. But that's it.

We had a situation where the home owners are seniors and they have to quickly move into a residence. The daughter and son-in-law had worked like mad to deal with all the personal items. They needed our help to transform the home, while the parents were out, into something marketable and as current as possible.

Check this out....

Sometimes the changes are sublte. Others are dramatic. No matter you can't argue that this was money well spent. The homeowners and the adult children could relax for the weekend and enjoy the sunny weather. The job was done. The home presents nicely.

Not bad for 5 hours of work.

We love these projects even if the results are not what we would want them to be (only possible with budgets for painting, accesories etc.) but to think we use only what they already have...not bad !!!

Tell us what you think.

Great job Michelle.  I've always thought photos speak louder than words, and your demonstrations prove that is right.

So true that it's often more challenging to work only with what is already there, and not spend any money on accessories ... but for 5 hours of work this is a great transformation!  I'm sure the family was thrilled with the outcome.  The home looks much more updated, spacious, and with a fresher vibe.

Thanks everyone. I wish more people would see with their eyes and understand what staging can do. Montreal is a special market and many people just don't get it. With no exageration people usually don't treat their homes like investments when they are selling. There are lots of reasons for this but still it is a shame.

Maureen, because of this we usually have the real-estate agent pay for the staging because they "get it". So we have honed our skills to the extent that we can make amazing transformations in 3-4 hours with 2 people.

It can almost hurt to know what we could do if we only had another 500 to 1000 in budget.

Sonja, the bathroom was tough. I mean it still has the harvest gold tub, sink and toilet and that tiling BUt it now at lesat feels fresh.

Great work using only what is available to you.  I am no longer distracted by their belongings.  Well done Michelle!

You did an awesome job with the time that you had and the budget that you had. You cleaned it up and de-cluttered and made this into a really nice space. Congrats and hopefully you will have a fast sale!!!

You should be 'Feeling Good' with a job well done! It's difficult when you have only their things to work with but you pulled it off beautifully.

Love these types of results using only what the owner has. You did a great job Michelle! The weight of the rooms was removed and you let them breathe showing the full potential of the space.

Michelle, although it's frustrating to not have the budget for art and accessories, you did an amazing job.  The biggest transformation is the dining room.  That's like night and day!  Great job.  Oh, and by the way, I'm with you - I love lots of photos and less text!

Fantastic job Michelle!  Especially the dining room - it's hard to believe that it's the same space.

Michelle- I love the challenge of occupied homes and you met the challenge beautifully.  The dining room actually looks very inviting now.  Staging doesn't have to be about making every home look like a model home.  The work you did make it much more "showable".

Hi everyone. Thank you so much for your great comments. I usually try to respond to each comment personally but I was out staging again today. This one was another challenge. A different colour of wall to wall carpeting in each room. Even the baseboards are carpeted.

LOL

To Kathy's point - I do wish more of our projects were about making a home look like a model home. Must be from the design side of me. On the other hand these simple redesign projects are a huge challenge and sometimes more fun.

Karen you got it right when you mention weight. The rooms were heavy. At the end of this project the whole house felt lighter. It was easier to breath.

Thanks again everyone !!

Michelle,

Don't beat yourself up! This is fantastic!!! Of course, the designer in us all would just LOVE to take this to the next step. But THIS is a perfect example of how an "expert eye" can turn the focus on the space, rather than the stuff. We all just Llooovvve to make everything pretty.(Of course we do! And we're damn good at it! Aren't we?) But, whatever you charged, this transformation was worth it to the homeowners and REA! So don't apologize for what you couldn't do. I would proudly add this to my portfolio for exactly what it is!

Palma, thank you so much for the very kind words.  You are so right.

Wendy, once the daughter (who is the REA) got over the stress of the day she has been very happy and relieved. Thanks.

Great news. This home has sold !! It feels like it took forever but it only took 3 weeks to get the offer and finalizing it. WooHoo.
