Congrats on the 200,000 points and more importantly the friendships you have established on AR! I haven't been around very long, but have gotten to. where I recognize certain people, just as if I were crossing paths with them in the community. I actually picked up the phone and called one person after reading about her background. We now exchange email regularly. I would definitely call her a friend, even though we've never met face-to-face and have only spoken once very briefly on the phone.

Jeff you make some very valid points (pun intended) about what we are really getting out of AR and what the points won't do for you. I like this one the most "Points won't create relationships so real, that when you finally meet that person for the first time you feel like you're meeting an old friend."
You can cash those points in for a new v705 on Chris' prize catalogue. 200,000 reasons you made such great relationships here!!! I'm glad I was here to experience most of those points. Now come on over here and gimme a big hug :)

I agree with many of the things you say about points. I do think that a Realtor from 10 states away may pick a person with a highER level of points, but you are right, not necessarily the highEST!

Congratulations on hitting the big 200M. Welcome to the Gold Star Hall of Fame. You are right the points do matter, but the relationships and the knowledge we gain is far more important. I have learned a lot from your blog posts and look forward to the next 200,000.

Thanks for all of the input Jeff. As a relative newbie here, I'm learning that a good 20-30 minutes a day on AR keeps my mind growing in the real estate business. Posts from people like you make it a great investment.

Jeff, you make some great POINTS (pun intended). I've only been a member for about a week now, but I've already made personal connections with people, engaged in phone conversations and planned a couple of meetings. Ironically, this post is bound to keep your points rolling, but you deserve it. Active Rain is already becoming a large part of my plans for the future, and my only regret is that I didn't find it sooner. Oh well, "good things come to those who wait." While I can't say that I don't keep an eye on my point total, I'm much more interested in having a voice and the respect of my peers for what I bring to the table. Thanks for your post.
Jeff- Congratulations on your milestone! It truly indicates an enormous amount of effort and time invested. I love that you recognize that the only people saying that points don't matter are the ones with the points! Of course there are more important things at play, as you've mentioned. But points do stand for something.

Congratulations Jeff! You are right: Pioints DO matter to a "point" - but they are not the Be All End All. I cannot even BEGIN to count all the blessings that AR has given me in the form of new friends.
Good post. The way I view it, the points are simply a byproduct of our relationship and referral building activities. The points are nice, but they aren't really the main...............point.

Yep that's right, you are a SAP......... and you know what... that's what makes you REAL.... (pardon my using cap's captain but I wanted the emphaSIS on the proper SyLABle) ok I'm being silly, but you really aren't a sap.... I think the meaning of SAP should be someone who is REAL and not untouchable... someone feeling.... oh hell, you know what I'm trying to say.... Hi Jeff, It wasn't until I met fellow Active Rainers in Chicago that I truly understood the power of this network. I've been to countless professional forums and people don't usually stand around for long to talk with others they know....not to speak of the hours that seemed to fly by with people I had just met in person for the first time. I got it then....this is what happens with clients too. Congratulations on Accomplishing way more than 200,000 points could ever deliver!!

A huge accomplishment Jeff. I haven't been here that long but already I see that the points are just a small part of the AR experience. I have learned so much. Thanks for sharing your knowledge here with all of your posts!! (and thanks for stopping by my outside blog!) I am testing out realestateshows right now and love it! I just need time to play with it! I hope to finish my first tonight! It is very easy to use.

Jeff, it's my 1st few days on AR and I have come across your "brain dump" in many places. I see from the comments that 200,000 points earned you a lot of friends. In my case, ignorance could be a bliss: I did not know that points matter, so I did not worry. Your posts reassures me that I should not. I learned so much in a few days that my to-do list is getting longer by the minute. My laptop moved to my bed...this stuff is contagious. BTW - RealEsateShows is on my to-do list. I subscribed to your blog and hope to learn more from your "brain dumps". Thanks.
