Today, was the most spectacular sunny day and I saw the most beautiful field of sunflowers. 

It made me think of the title of this post, something that I remember my Dad saying.  He loved the summer and the promise of taking out his sailboat, sittting by the river, or taking a country drive.

Today would have been Jack Woolford's 77th bithday and though he's been gone for many years, I miss him everyday and I can still see his bright smile.

Sara,

Your dad was a wise man.  I too spend nine months of the year waiting for three.  The current and up coming weather is the only thing that got me through the record breaking snowfall we had this year on the east coast.

Why don't you do your father's wish?. . .go for a country drive or use the sailboat. 

That helps me get connected with my dad. . when I do things he wanted to do but life came out too short for him.

I always listen to what people have to say on this subject.....it all comes down to the most simplest things in the end.....They asked an elderly women who lived to be 103 what she wished she would have done more of....looking back for a moment and pausing...., she responded...I WISHED I WOULD HAVE EATEN MORE ICE CREAM...it is as simple as that.

I'm confused about why you spend nine months waiting for three. Don't you live in San Antonio? Are you trying to say you like the three months of winter, rain, and clouds?
