You have to play the game.. after all were playing the same game... right?

Real Estate Agent with Real Living Kee Realty

As a new real estate agent I have seen a trend in my dealings with other Realtors. A lot of them give off the impression that they are too busy to actually answer a question about a listing... or return a phone call... or heaven forbid... fill out a feedback request on a listing. In my opinion we all have a part to play in this Real Estate game, and even though were on different teams we all have a fiduciary responsibility to our clients. Now this doesnt mean I should have to show all of my cards to get a deal to close, that would just be bad for my clients. To me this does mean that I should cooperate as much as I possibly can and work as hard as I can to get these deals to close and leave a good impression on both the buyer and sellers in the transaction because the best kind of business is referral business. I really feel there comes a point when egos are laid aside and we all can look around and say wow things are rough out there right now... lets make the best of it and work as hard as we can to close everything we can and be a part of the the solution instead of walk with the scared people who are bowing out when things are getting tough.

Ha my rant for the day...

As an investor, I can honestly say that if we continue to provide VALUE (in EVERY capacity) we will always be profitable; if not financially, at least as a means of bolstering the perceived value we display to our partners, clients, etc....

Many realtors, real estate agents, and even investors, do not treat their business as a business. It MUST be handled in a way such that if the next deal goes away, you don't eat. Not to sound melodramatic, and that may not actually be the case, but the truth of the matter is, 1 unprofessionally handled call, email, or deal which leads to another ultimately leads to your demise.

Great post and thanks!

Good point Chris.  I've also noticed that the most successful realtors in my area are the ones who don't view it as a game and work cooperatively.

yes I agree with you both. Sometimes it stinks when you dont feel a mutual respect. Also I was being more sarcastic with the term game :) I agree with you completley Kristen

Oh so true....I especially wonder about these REO agents...when that is not the driving portion of their business...will they know how to actually give good customer service or to get a listing??   I get so tired of their "don't bother me" attitude!

Chris, I just re read my comment and realized it sounded a bit snooty.  Sorry about that.  I really wanted to say I know where you are coming from.  We have some agents here who are so adversarial that other agents actually warn their clients.  It is so useless to be difficult.

Hey Chris, good rant. There are always some agents that try and intimidate young or new agents, don't let them get to you, just do what's best for your clients. And yes there's some agents that don't never return calls period whether you're new, old or in between, which I can't understand!

Good job on your blog and congrats on getting the rainmaker status, keep blogging and the google juice will follow and so will the leads.

Chris, I like your thinking.  Since I'm a lender, I'd also like to add that we're (realtors and lenders) on the same team, too.  Many times I feel an adversarial vibe when dealing with certain realtors and I feel it's just wasted energy.  I'd rather work together through the snags and not point fingers when/if there are some hiccups.

I haven't worked with you yet, but I'm sure in the future our paths will cross.

Thanks again...
