Not Quite Wordless Wednesday - The Real Paul Blart, Mall Cop

I was so entranced by this guy (from the bicycle helmet to the fake Oakleys to the soft whirring of the electric engine on the Segway) and the absolute air of confidence obviously oozing from every pore that I actually came back just to take a photo of him in his natural habitat:

The

I didn't want to frighten him as he interacted with those he was charged to protect.  So, I snuck up on him and took the photo from afar.  He took his job very seriously.  When he wasn't running the segway up and down the parking structure, he would perch in his own little corner of the 3rd floor parking structure so that he would be ready to act if some scuffle or customer in need arose.  I hope he has enough "Hello Kitty" bandaids in case of emergency.

Gotta love the enthusiasm.  It takes a real secure man to feel comfortable riding a segway all day.

Life is just too serious to have any fun.  Or I am here to make a citizens arrest.

You are right about loving the enthusiasm. And, there is something about riding a segway all day. Excitement, enthusiasm, wheeling around? H-m-m-m, what more could a person want...

Oh, Michael.  I am so sorry, but there is no way to look "manly" on a segway.  One morning, when I was driving my son to school, we saw a group of 3 guys at the light on segways.  One of them, the "rebel", apparently, broke away from the pack and crossed the crosswalk on his segway before the light told him it was OK.  The other guys yelled their admiration of his rebellion when they went as a pair across the crosswalk.  A real "bad ass".  hahaha

I've seen mall cops before, Carole.  But, I have never seen one on an actual segway before.  It was fantastic!  Much better than the movie.

Give the fake cop a hug...you gotta love it!

I've seen these guys more and more lately.  In a way, it makes sense in the malls.  They can get around quickly and you would think their presence would deter crime.

I actually rented a Segway at the Long Beach Convention Center at the end of one of the CAR Expo's a few years ago.  It was quite fun and a great way to tour around an area.  But I agree that it's pretty difficult to appear intimidating on one.

They look like tons of fun to ride, Michael.  They just look so silly to watch.  I guess if we can have cops on bicycles with their little shorts at the beach, then we can deal with mall cops on Segways.
