Another building in NYC that is totally amazing is the Flatiron Building because of its triangular shape. It is only six feet wide at its rounded narrow end and resembles a flat iron. The building is considered by New Yorkers as one of the first famous skycrapers. Built in 1902, it is located on 5th Ave. betweem 22nd and 23rd street. The area's Flatiron District is named after this enduring New York symbol. Designed by Daniel H. Burnham, the building was one of the first in the city to use a steel frame to hold up its 285-foot tall facade. It is a favorite among New Yorkers and around the world. The Flatiron has a most interesting shape also nicknamed "Burnham's Folly.".
