Health Care Bill Taxes Home Sales????

Whether you were for it or against it....this will impact our industry in a big way!

I just read Paul Guppy's article from the Spokesman's Review, "Health Law's Heavy Impact" where he states that the 2700 page health bill includes a 3.8% sales tax on the sale of a home and other real estate transactions.

The IRS will be in charge of enforcing the program with the power to confiscate and levy and seek jail time if the health related taxes and penalties are not paid. The IRS is hiring 16500 more auditors to enforce this....wonderful.

This plan has a 40% tax on those who carry "Cadillac health care coverage" defined as an individual's program costing over $10200 annually. Unfortunately, I know first hand that if anyone has a pre-existing condition, they are likely paying this or close to this price currently for what I would call "normal" health care coverage with a high deductible premium.  It is hardly "Cadillac" by anyone's standards. So if you want to maintain your current coverage you will just have to pay 40% more for it....that really doesn't sound like a choice and it really doesn't sound like there is freedom in making that fiscal choice. That "leverage" sounds like blackmail to me...but that is my opinion.

I confess, I haven't read the 2700 page document. I honestly believe that few people have, including those who voted, supposedly to represent us. But out of 2700 pages....these two items alone scare the dickens out of me.

I'm sort of feeling like...America...home of the not so free  and you better be very brave in the days ahead.
