So I had a fender bender today...

Yep, I hate to admit it, but today has just been one of those days.

So I'm getting ready to pull out of this bank parking lot and there was a SUV in front of me. We were both turning right onto a busy street. As I looked at him, he pulled forward and to the right. I assumed he was going on into traffic. I looked to the left to see a break in the oncoming traffic. I hit the gas....to my surprise I suddenly realized that he did not go as expected. He had stopped just as I looked away at the traffic to the left. The end result was a bent tailpipe and small dent in his bumper. Mine looked very similar to the picture above (not my car by the way, just an incredibly similar fender bender).

On the bright side, the guy was very understanding and decided not to call the cops. We exchanged info, and he will get a estimate to bend his tailpipe back straight. Me...well..."slightly" worse. LOL

Just a reminder to always be on your toes while driving. In these busy days of cell phones, and Blackberrys (not that it had anything to do with this) please pay attention to the road at all times! I never thought this would have happened to me, but I guess it could have been a lot worse. Anyone know of a good body shop in Wilmington, NC?? Also, if you are a Realtor in the area...send me a client that needs a loan. Tony needs a new fender! LOL

Sorry to hear about your mistake, next time turn it into a positive and offer him the chance to get a new loan

That is a bummer. At least you have a good attitude about it and want to help others. Hopefully you will get some referrals to help you out,

Oops! And this week, I am driving a rental SUV with a blind spot the size of Texas! I'm learning to never trust an SUV driver! Sorry about your bender!

Hi Tony.....if it makes you feel any better I did the same thing a few years back. I thought the car in front of me pulled into traffic. I watched the car move forward and thought it was gone...I looked, gassed right into the back of the car I thought had left! No cell phone, no blackberry just running late and didn't act as cautiously as I normally. Sorry for your bender but it can be fixed with not injuries other than pride it is all good.

Cars can be fixed, the important thing is that neither of you were hurt.

Well ya know what they say....Wilmington drivers are the worst, and the cops didn't have to know...(thats the best part!) You need a new fender, I got a few bills to pay, so We'll see what we can do.

You are very lucky the guy didn't insist on calling the cops--so your insurance company doesn't have to know. That's what gets you, you know! Did you give the guy your card? Never miss an opportunity. LOL.

If you live and drive in Wilmington---It's bound to happen. Lucky for you it wasn't bad, no cops, no ticket, no injury and trip to hospital. I'd say your pretty damn lucky. Sorry, I don't know of any body shops around there. I go to Wilmington quite often and have witnessed so many wrecks while there. Now, I like to go in on 74, cross Isabelle Holmes Bridge, and hit MLK. The shops I like are over that way so I see no need in risking an accident on College Rd. Well, good luck and glad your OK.
