51st Boatnik - Grants Pass, Oregon Boatnik

51st Boatnik

2010 was better than ever!  The Active Club of Grants Pass, Oregon has again made Boatnik something special.

51st Boatnik

This is the 51st Boatnik, and it certainly has been memorable!  The Boatnik festival draws people from all over the country, and is as lively and interesting at the Oregon state fair.

51st Boatnik

The Grants Pass population of 33,000 must have swelled to over 150,000 people for this Boatnik weekend.  Earnings brought in by Boatnik go to benefit children's programs, and again, we need to thank the Active Club for their community spirit.

51st Boatnik
Everything was well planned and orchestrated.

51st Boatnik

After the Boatnik Memorial services on Monday, the boat races began, and at one point people were lining three bridges across the wild Rogue River.  Boatnik has treated us to four exciting days, and more memories that will long linger.

Come visit us during next years' Boatnik and see how friendly everyone is in Southern Oregon!  Total strangers just walk up and start a conversation.

51st Boatnik

Maybe it's because everyone is so happy to live in such a beautiful place!

Gary - The sights and sounds of a good boat race ..... just before they pass under the bridge they look a little bit like a comet streaking across the sky.

Hi Kathy.  This was our second year of Boatnik, and both times we've made sure to be down at one of the bridges to watch the races.

This looks like so much fun! I love the sound of a loud boat racing down the river! We may have to make this one of our destinations for a vacation!

Looks like as fun as I remember Boatnik to be, Gary. We missed it this year showing some California highlights to the exchange student our Rotary Club brought in. Maybe next year...

Boatnik?   A picnic involving boats?  Or a bunch of old hippies who like boats?
