As many know, I'm a frequent contributor on Trulia Voices which is, in essence, a real estate question and answer forum.
Recently I switched brokers and I learned many valuable lessons, one being never have your Facebook page name reference your broker because you cannot change your Facebook page name. I had to start from scratch and start a new Facebook page, this time, not referencing my broker in the page name Gina Chirico Real Estate (Essex County & West Essex NJ).
Now back to moving over Trulia Voices and building your business using Facebook Discussions, while building my new Facebook page, I realized that the discussion tab can be utilized as a Q&A type area, updating my status with the following wording - Have a real estate question? Hit the discussions tab on top and type your question under start a new topic. I'm looking forward to assisting you with all your real estate needs.
Unfortunately nobody clicked the Facebook discussion tab to start a new topic or ask a question so today I "tested" it out by posting the following topic "What is the New Jersey Realty Transfer Fee?":

I answered the above Facebook discussion/question at the same time but for consumer purposes, it should look something like below (obviously for illustration purposes I was the one posting the question but really it would be a consumer posting the question):

Then in the reply section I would respond to the question/concern that was posted in the topic. My Facebook business page has no restrictions therefore anyone can also reply to a particular topic posted. As the administrator I reserve the right to delete any topic or reply if deemed inappropriate.
Building your business using Facebook discussions will not replace Trulia Voices but I think its a great, free tool to use and to promote your business with. You have the ability to position yourself in front of your fans/friends/family on the Facebook platform as the as the expert in real estate or whatever business you do. Remember many of our friends/family/fans may not visit Trulia.com or have never heard of Trulia Voices. Why send them to Trulia where they will be "bombarded" with "pick me, pick me" real estate agents when you can answer and address their questions, concerns and suggestions directly.
You can even post and put a link on your website, email, etc. with a description of Facebook discussions and link directly to your Facebook discussions page.
To reiterate, I'm sure Facebook discussions will not replace Trulia Voices but how about we just move Trulia Voices over a bit and focus on building your business using Facebook discussions.
Move over Trulia Voices ~ we are now building our business using Faceboook discussions
As always, Essex County Real Estate at its BEST!
