Attention all Realtors® using Macs! Good news is here! If you are part of Regional MLS here in South Florida you can now access the MLS through a solution called IDS Links.
Hi Katerina, that is good to know. I hate my P.C. laptop and want to make a change but the Apple isn't supported well with our MLS. This is good to know! Tiffany
Tiffany- We keep a windows PC just in case we have issues with mls. Our office is all converted to Mac and I have never been so happy:)
Elite Homes- Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Katerina,
Our MLS recently became Mac and Firefox compatible with NO additonal software or downloads required!!! YEAH!!!!! All I can say is that its about time!
This was after four years of pergatory. First we used boot camp. Then they "improved the system" but that made it incompatable with Boot camp. However, I needed boot camp for the Sentrilock card renewal. To get the MLS I needed to install Citrix - which I did on my desktop and laptop. For whatever reason Citrix crashed constantly on the laptop and your searches wouldn't be saved...So I installed parallels - that worked on laptops. So for a while, I was using Boot Camp, Citrix and Parallels just for MLS access and my access card.
But the MLS now works great on Firefox...so I'm thrilled!
Our MLS system will soon be Mac compliant, by the end of summer they say. So far I'm using Parallels, but I'd rather not have to. Getting my first iPhone on Monday! woo hoo!
Ruthmarie- Aren't the MLS vendors so ancient? WoW, you are a mac fan to put up with all of that. We just kept our windows until they each died one by one. Funny, the last one just died the day after the new IDS link went live, :) There is no software, just a link. I rarely use the mls anymore. Nestor and Milet use it all the time. Milet used crossover but it was also buggy. We have the imacs, macbook pros and ipods. I have a Nano that I love for video. Best video and steadiest too. Nestor and Milet have iphones. Mine will be when my contract is up at the end of june, just in time for the new iphone version. YEAH! I want the iPad, but Nestor wants me to wait to see if Apple comes out with another version in 2011. Can't wait!
Georgina- Look forward to it!
Sad, our MLS doesn't work with Mac, one of the reasons I am using a PC. Many MLS's are slow to change.
Thanks for the info - Have you been able to make your Mac compatible with ZipForms?
Katerina - that is great news for you in the South Florida region. I am contemplating to buy paralles, but now after reading the comments here I'm not so sure. I do have a PC desktop with Windows7 which works much better than all the previous versions, so I can switch back and forth but when I'm out of town I take my MacBook Pro with me and that is a problem with access to MLS. We in Central Florida use MLXchange as well, do you know if this works in all Regions of MLXchange? That would be a great addition.
This is amazing. I was using VMware for the longest time to get MLS on my mac. The really annoying this was that I setup a PC environment on my mac JUST for MLS access. This is a far superior solution cheers!
Nicholas- It is also available with the Miami Realtors board. We are members there too and we use the IDS links on the Miami MLS. I do not like windows environments at all and would hate for any of them to be on our macs!
