Bearizona Update 2! The Bear Cubs Are Getting Frisky!

Welcome to the Bearizona Series.

Bearizona is a new wildlife drive through park located at the "Gateway to the Grand Canyon" in Williams, Arizona.

The new park has over 160 acres of Ponderosa Pine and gentle terrain to house Northern American wildlife.

Summer hours 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Plenty of time to take the train to the Grand Canyon and see the wildlife at Bearizona.

Catch up with the Soft Opening information.

Check out great Bearizona pictures on Flickr.

Please feel free to join the Bearizona group on Flickr and add your photos or videos.

See more Bearizona videos on TheCosmicCowPie channel on youtube.

Today you can see:

  • Full grown bears
  • Bear Cubs
  • Dall Sheep
  • Longhorn Sheep
  • Buffalo
  • White Bison
  • Burros

In a week to 10 days the Alaskan Tundra Wolves should arrive and the wolf pup exhibit should be open.  The Bearizona group hasn't decided on names. Two males and one very dominant female.  They would like to come up with historic, regional names.

Any ideas?

Kathy ~ I am sure having fun with this new park in Williams, Arizona.  Yes, I will be posting about it weekly as new animals arrive and new exhibits open.  I know Ann Arbor is a big place.. but do you happen to know Bonnie and Mike Seskevics?

Hi Carra,

I loved your video!  Having to get one of those tattoos at the end of the tour kinda scares me, though....

Carra, Bearizona sounds awesome!  And I loved seeing the very active bear cub.  Keep us updated on the names for the wolf pups.

Tim ~  Sandi Foree is a stitch!  She is the broker owner of Second Homes Arizona LLC.  She has an office in Phoenix and in Williams.

Susan~ It is really a fun place to visit.. I plan on keeping everyone up on the activity since this is 10 minutes from my house and I love to watch the animals!

Carra:  It's very cool that you posted this update.  That bear cub is just the cutest.  I'd love to pick him up and cuddle him, but I'm sure he'd rip me to shreds.

Hi, Carra. Being able to see wild animals in a safe, controlled setting is far better than just releasing them. Black bears were re-introduced into Big South Fork several years ago and they are proliferating. There haven't been any "incidents" yet between the wildlife and the tourists but I think it's just a matter of time before the two worlds collide.

Chris Ann ~ I want to pick them up and cuddle each time I go too... I saw the trainer and you have to pick them up at the back of the neck like a cat.. hold them from the back not the front!

Adam ~  You should make a plan and come to Bearizona and the Grand Canyon!

Leslie ~ Black Bears are not animals I would want to meet in the wild.  I have some videos on the youtube link where a BIG black bear was trying to get in the security area.. fun to watch but I would not want to be inside.
