I like the points and use them as a barometer about what I am doing and what progress I am making.
You are right to the point! congrats on turning 300. It is good to see my peers moving up. enjoy cw
Paddy...
Who are we kidding? It's about the points :)
TLW...ROAR!
Points are a way to keep score. Focus on learning and creating good content and the points will take care of themselves.
Congratulations! I am looking forward to getting 10,000 points so I still have a long way to go. I don't know when the really active bloggers find the time but I am grateful they do as I have learned a great deal from them.
Congratulations. Points just happen because you are doing something on Active Rain. If my points stay the same then I know I haven't been 'working'. I find them encouraging. Margaret C.
I appreciate seeing the points that others collect (as well as myself....slowly) because it shows me how committed they are to Active Rain and sharing their knowledge with others. If I'm looking to refer a realtor to someone in another area, I put a lot of stock into their previous blogs and points.
What a milestone Paddy! Congratulations on them AND your great blog. Here's to the next 300,000 points in the rain!!
Great job Paddy. Points are just a way to keep track of if you are doing the right things and apparently you are!
The points are fun, and a great barometer of our efforts. I've had to explain repeatedly to my son-in-law why I care so much about them, when they don't actually 'get me' anything!
Congratulations on achieving the milestone! The only time that I have a problem with the points is when you see agents who consistantly enter the same response 3 to 4 times on someones blog. Other than that the points serve a purpose and do ad a little enjoyment to our lives.
I think you are right, if someone thinks that the points mean nothing, they do not get it. I think it means we are active on the internet to a certain degree. We even have a ranking in the county and the state by these points, and I quote those rankings to new clients all the time.
Congratulations from way down here at the bottom - looks like a lot of work but I'm sure there were many rewards along the way.
Just wanted to stop in and say congratulations on the milestone. Good Luck.
Paddy
It is easy to lose the main reason why we blog and I think the comments above are why? Congratulations

Paddy, What a great accomplishment! It takes real dedication to get to 300,000 points.
Paddy,
I have been writing about it and commenting about it. Yes they are worthless, and yes, they are priceless. For me they are the force behind organizing me as here on AR and in general. It was difficult, and I thought it was impossible to get to the level of commenting 10 times a day and blogging 10 times a week. It is what made me a better organized person. Points are the benchmark, and without it I would not have done even 1/10th of what I did.
And, believe it or not, AR without points would not be what it is.
Paddy - congratulations on your milestone, and on a good read. Couldn't agree more with you on your sentiments about the value of AR. Points are, well, just points. BUt things would be quite different here if points weren't part of the landscape, dontcha think?
Jeff

Congratulations on your milestone. Points do have a tendency to motivate people.
