My favorite gardening past-time is Herbs

I have herbs everywhere.  My most productive is a Rosemary plant that has a life of it's own. I've been pruning it in a hedge format, but has overtaken it's place.  I was told to not prune more than 1/3 of the plant at one time - it would shock the plant.

I pruned about 90% of it into a "bonsai" form (not sure what form...) and it has flourished. The soil conditions are sandy and drain real well.  It also gets morning sun (in Washington that's rare, but the spot is not too hot - enough said)

The rosemary bush must like you ... especially since you're complementing it as a "bonsai" plant.

Herbs are one of the best ways to get started in gardening.  They produce quickly and give the gardener confidence.  From there, it becomes obsession.  Be careful.

David - It's too late... I was hooked on herbs when stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  There was a great little herb farm in a small town called Spivey's Corner (just a small dot on the road map)

Debi - that is so nice.  Rosemary is my favorite herb.  I love it on steaks and chicken.  What else do you prepare with it?

Hi Debi,

Thanks for posting this in the Gardening Group.  What about taking a picture of your plant and adding it to the post.  I too, have Rosemary and other herbs but I use the Rosemary alot in my cooking and love it.  I even got my daughter hooked on it and she has her own plant on her apartment balcony.
