Kathy - Quite sneaky, eh? :) Taking "Name that Photo" photos in parts of the GTA where I don't expect you to take them.
I haven't been to the Guild Inn for quite a while but it is a great park. I think that there are plans to fix up the building but don't recall offhand if anything is actually occurred or has occurred. I'm hoping to go to the park this summer for some stock photography for blogging purposes as there is a great abundance of material.
I didn't have time to research "Osterhout" in your final clue.
Marc - we have a lot of east end history between us and we do get around ..... Barrie Lived in Scarbouough for most of his years in the "city" and thats where our first home was ...... Actually that is where Barrie started in real estate and he also mangaed a C21 office in West Hill not far from the Guild .....
It appears that they have not done much of anything yet but I understand there will be something soon involving Centenial College ..... There is a lot of bits and pieces of Histoeical Toronto Buildings located there and Barrie and I took quite a few pictures the day we were there.
You just needed to check the spelling A search for Augustus Jones log cabin would have led you to a page one hit for the answer.
Kathy,
What a charming little home. I always think of the pioneers in their log cabins on stormy winter nights with their fires going and perhaps eating some stew of some sort and some home made bread whenever I see photos such as this.
Jo
Jo - It reminds you of the TV series "Little House on the Prairie"
Now the new challenge you should put out there for appraisers. What is this little gem worth? I know it won't be on the market anytime soon but I would think it is appropriate for someone to have an insurance value..... :-)
Michael - priceless
Very nice Kathy. I've never been to the Guild Inn and just recently walked my dog along the Humber River past the Old Mill Inn in Toronto. It looks really charming also.
So what are you going to do next to keep Michael and Marc busy researching? Actually I have something I may post to a Name that Photo group.
Jenny - it's a bit of a drive but worth the experience. The inn itself is all boarded up but you can walk the grounds and walk through some of Toronto's history in the bit's and pieces of the structures that have been rescued frm the wrecking ball and displayed around the grounds.
It's a pretty little log cabin! I was hoping I could Google or Wikipedia William Osterhout and find out more, but no luck.
Ray - try Augustus Jones log cabin
