This is going to be short and to the point.  Home maintenance is the back bone of your investment.  If you take just 1 hour a weekend, that would be 52 hours a year.

52 hours a year is a lot of time allowed to keep you investment in top shape.  It may not seam like a lot, well, then why not do it?   A shingle loose here, a cracked window there.  Next the paint is peeling, faucets drip and gutters get all clogged.

Now you have some serious work to be done.  Now your home is worth less than it should be and if you have to sell NOW, it's not going to happen.

So, protect your investment.  Just an hour a week can keep your home from going like this...

  To looking like this...

Ok, this may be a bit drastic, but hopefully you get the idea.  an hour a weekend is better than spending the whole weekend and more money in the long run.

Bill, I really don't mind the maintenance on my own house it gets we outdoors, and gives me some much needed exercise. Plus I enjoy my property when it looks good and functions well.

Bill...

It is so important to stay on top of home maintenance. Not only does it make good economic sense but it protects your investment.

It is a lot easier to do a little at a time than to wait until it a big job costing hundreds and maybe thousands more in the long run.

Good post, a home requires the constent attention of the owner, or you never catch up.

Things are easy to fix when they are small, but ignore them and they become large in a hurry.

All you need to do is look at a property that isn't being lived in to see how fast things go down hill.  An hour a week is nothing to insure your investment.

Even the most-well-intentioned home owner frequently fails to properly maintain his home.  There are always little issues that are avoided. . . until he decides to sell his home and realizes that it's time to get busy and fix everything he's been avoiding for so long.
