20 Comments on Inspection Photo of the Day ~ Ask Andy...
Good morning Michael,
My husband always says "A happy wife is a happy life." If I had said "put the doohickey on the other side" in our basement (mind you in Austin we don't generally have basements our houses are built on slabs) he would have agreed after repairing the problem the right way. I would have thought I was right! He's a gem....check out his latest handyman in my post this morning Michael!
Ha! Now if that husband had been real smart, he would of listened to his wife. ;)
Now have a good day, Michael. You started mine off with a smile.
Dixie
Michael, too funny. I'm with Dorie on this one though, a happy wife is definitely a happy life.
Hi Michael -- well, you sure see lots of interesting things in your daily business. You know those 'worst football plays ever' type of books? I think you home inspectors ought to put a slide show together.
OK!! So close and yet so far...Your pictures are down right scary at times!!!
What aisle in my local home improvement store can I find "doohickeys"? I've been looking forever and just can seem to locate them!
I can only imagine the vermin who find their way into Dorie's house through this pipe!
Wow!!! That is scary! I have to giggle at some of the comments above, although I wouldn't expect anything less....especially from Craig!!
This was probably connected to a state of the art hybrid heat pump right. I'll bet the crawl space was comfortable.
Michael, Why does their doohickey not look anything like my doohickey?
:)
Micheal,
Whatever the doohicky is it sure does nothing to repair the heat/air vent that is blowing the air through their crawlspace.
Hmmm, nice warm and possibly damp crawlspace. I'm sure the stay cats like it under there during the winter.
Michael....I guess doohickies come in all shapes and sizes, huh? From your picture, it looks like the doohicky is alittle late!
I have always wondered what goes though your mind when you see these things
Do you ask how and why and did it ever occur to these people.....SOMETHINGS WRONG
Just wondering
Enjoy the day
Well at one time that may have been a good thing. Kind of ingenious. lol
looks like a real mess. A creative person could fix it with several roils of duct tape.
Hi Michael, I'm guessing these homeowners never used the heat or air because their utility bill would have set off alarms. jay
Michael,
It does look like it needs another doohickey. :)

Sooo.. this is NOT how that should look? Cant imagine how many times you come across this nonsense.
I've looked and looked through my Oxford. Is "doohickey" a technical term peculiar to the States?
