Can Realtors be Trespassers

By
Real Estate Agent with Better Homes & Gardens R.E. / Anderson (Trinity, TX)

YES THEY CAN, and they can be shot too!

We sell vacation homes, waterfronts, weekend get-aways and timberland in beautiful East Texas,  Some of it is on paved county roads, some places are miles down dirt roads, some have gates and some don't.  Some gates are closed, locked or not, some have cattle guards. Some have no trespassing signs, or purple painted spots on the perimeter trees. ALL are private property.

Owning a working GPS does not entitle you to drive your client back to the house "just to see what they think of it".

Showing up at the end of a hundred yard driveway, unanounced, in your powder blue Bimmer is sometimes unwise, especially if the occupant in a young mother, or an old gentleman in a wheelchair.

The answer?  Read your showing instructions, call the listing agent; most of us will help you show our stuff, respect local sustoms and use your common sense.
