Kirkland's Woodland Cove community is just a small enclave on the Northeast shore of Lake Washington, but step inside the gates and you'll feel as if you've stepped back in time a bit. I toured this 1996-built home with a client this week, and it's the perfect example of the benefits of shared waterfront. The community has a dock with shared access, so the owners have their own boat slip on the waterfront and enjoy the views of Lake Washington from their home, but pay significantly less in upfront costs and property taxes.

At 4200 square feet, it's large enough to accomodate all of these spaces without squeezing the bedroom sizes down. Since Woodland Cove is a gated community, most area residents have probably never visited unless they personally know someone who lives here. It's well worth the visit if you have the chance. Currently listed at $1.4 million, this particular home allows for a unique opportunity to own luxury real estate in a landmark community and still have waterfront access at a non-waterfront price.
